Why can't I adjust the throttle cable?

I just put a new throttle cable on my mower and when it is at full throttle the cable keeps creeping to back to about half. I tried to tighten the cable clamp as tight as I could get it and it still creeps back. I took the clamp off and straightened it out put it back on tight but it still creeps back. I don't think I could get it any tighter without crushing the coiled jacket, but it's tight enough to hold it in place. Any ideas?

Sounds like the throttle lever isn't snug enough.
Look at the control assy and see if it has a nut to tighten...
I've had to snug up the rivet on the other style a few times...
Hit the rivet with a hammer

Thanks. I didn't try that, but I did fix the problem. Well maybe I bypassed the problem. I cut about an inch and a half off the cable and put a new bend in it and that seemed to help a little but not enough. Tried that again and it was still throttling down.
What I did is I swapped the throttle cable and the choke cable and it worked great. I only need the choke on full for a couple of seconds so that did the trick. I am going to check into the lever assembly though. If that is o.k. than I guess I just paid the scag dealer $30 dollars for a defective cable.
