Well it's been 4-months and here is the pros and cons.

PROS: It is compact which allows it to get into and out of tight spaces, even with the 54" deck. Like all standons edging is really easy. And it is really good on gas, like a little less than a gallon an hour good!

CONS: Really don't like the fact that the front end bounces badly when you hit a bump. I keep the blades paper cutting sharp but even with super sharp blades it only cuts well at slow speeds, anything over 3-mph and it leaves some grass uncut! No matter how careful I am it wants to bite the turf (12-lbs all the way around)-never had this problem with the eXmark. Adjust, readjust and the left hydrostat is still more powerful than the right side, I even wrote a letter to Bad Boy to get help and 2- months later still no response.

With that said, I'm stuck with a $7,000 mower that I would never buy again! And one I would never recommend to anyone! I stuck with it, and I'll use it to get my money worth out of it, but I'll never buy another Bad Boy!!! It's bad when the factory won't support their own product!!!

Now, I have discovered a mower I love and haven't heard that much about it, a Walker MBK.

I had a dealer tell me BB had gotten really bad with their customer service, he made this statement, "Bad Boy is more interested in high dollar advertising than looking after their customers, and it is going to bite them in the butt before long." He was selling a few BB mowers, but now he's selling none. He said he had too many mower lines he felt good about the customer service to even try to sell a mower line he knew would not give good customer service. I find this to be really sad.

This is one of the reasons I don't put much stock in reviews on this forum.

How do you go from loving this machine and cutting at high speeds with a manicured cut......to this thing cuts like crap even at low speeds? Now you hate the mower.

Can you explain what happened between then and now? Either the mower is out of adjustment or one of these posts is a lie.

Dave...

Here are some quotes from your initial review.

Quote: Before this mower, I used an eXmark Lazer Z48" Which is suppose to be a benchmark mower, well if it is, then Bad Boy has a lot to be proud of, because their Outlaw Stand On cuts just as well if not better.

Quote: The mower is FAST! and while not recommended, I have cut at speeds of up to 13-MPH and the cut wasn't bad at all. But for best results, this mower can cut excellent up to about 6-MPH.

Quote: I don't have Bad Boy's striping kit, but even without it, it does and excellent job created from the vacuum from the deck, and the clipping are incredibly small and disbursed nice an even. Go ahead and pull that magnifier out and look at how it cut each blade of grass, cause its impressively sharp and clean!

Quote: OVERALL: I LOVE THIS MOWER! The power can be a little intimidating at first, but once you learn to harness that power, she rides like a dream. I'd put the OUTLAW STAND ON up against any mower for Speed, Power, and Quality of Cut.

Thus the reason for a review update. I always update my reviews as I go. Flaws arent always obvious at first when your getting use to a new machine. I always recommend a looong demo if possible before buying a new machine. And even then your not going to get to mow in all the different conditions!

Craig thanks for the update and being honest! Its hard to drop big bucks on a new machine and not like it.

Very true statement, like I've said before, sometimes it may be no more than a new mower that has a newly painted slick finish on the underside of a deck, and new sharp blades, that gives the impression of a very good cut. The more you use a machine, the more you develop a sense of how well in reality it does perform.

I appreciate very much someone coming back and having the guts to post the harsh negative truth after they really get to know their machine.

You can't do a honest review on ANY product in a few hours of using it. A solid review would be after a season of use. That's when ALL the cobwebs can get dusted off. I'm with Dave on this. You can't buy a mower and bring it home, cut your lawn and then post a review. Then "updating" your review means that anything you said previously really has no meaning.

It cracks me up when I see a new thread stating, "new mower, quick review" and they only used the mower for an hour or two. Put over 100hrs and then post a review.

I agree...but cut quality should not change drastically unless something is out of adjustment or dull blades. Other problems or things you don't like about a machine sometimes take a while to show up.

I don't think someone should review a machine until after they had at least 25 or more operating hours on it. The initial enthusiasm and excitement of a new machine sometimes blinds us to its faults.

I don't think any machine cuts perfect in all conditions or grass types. I run Hustler machines and they don't do well for me on Fescue cut at higher lengths. But from what I understand Hustlers are made for southern turf.

I watched guys cut in my area with Scag, Toro, Johndeere, Exmark, and they all will cut bad in certain situations. That is why you get all this conflicting information on cut quality from people all over the country.

Some will say Exmark is the best....Some will say Scag is the best...Even people cutting the same grass in the same areas with the same machines will have conflicting views on cut quality. Some is operator error and some is equipment out of adjustment...and some is Cognitive Dissonance.

I agree...I appreciate it also. I'm not trying to be a jerk but a review should be written when you have had ample time to evaluate the machine. The OP post is an example of that.

Maybe when someone gives ideas of what their initial thoughts are on a new mower they demoed, or bought, they should title the thread, "First Impression" of whatever mower it is they either demoed, or purchased.

I think the word "review" may be somewhat conflicting with with the thought process of a few.

I personally don't care what they name the information being provided, just so it is provided in a truthful manner. I don't have a problem with anyone changing their mind, and appreciate them having the guts to do so.

Not sure of the OP location, but I'm guessing the grass is dry and the ground hard. Dried out grass is tough to cut good no matter what mower or blades you use. If the ground is dry and hard its obviously is going to ride hard and bounce. I've always had a hard time myself not tearing really dry turf with any brand mower.

At this point I would never buy a bad boy. I had cash in hand this spring to buy one of these. Never nothing from the dealer. I think there's 4 dealers in mn and I've had bad luck with 2. To me they just want to sell mowers to residential consumers who will buy a new one every 5-10 years or longer if the Dang thing doesn't fall apart.

I think you're on to something here. If they sell more to the homeowner, chances are the mower will be out of warranty before it DOES fall apart.

I was thinking the same thing myself when reading through this thread (and having read his other thread too). My idea for a more accurate title of quick "review" threads is something on the order of "my early/first impression of my new mower". That way there's always room for re-evaluation.
