Been using solo's for years but for whatever reason, they always seem to leak somewhere. Where the hose connects to wand, from hose to tank connection, at the lid that screws on etc.

Most recently a 2 year old 475-B diaphragm version and it leaks where the hose connects to tank. Regardless how tight the hose clamp is.

Any recommendations for something else? Or is this just normal for and BP sprayer?

i've been using the stihl sg20 for 5 years now. the only thing that has happened is one winter it got really cold and some water was still in the handle and it froze and cracked the plastic handle. i just had to buy a new one. it didnt' cost that much for a new handle. sprayer was a little over $100.

Whatever the supplier stocks. Just make sure they come with a decent mfg. warranty. Will all leak eventually.

I looked at the stihl, my concern is they only have a 40 working PSI vs what seems to 90 PSI for everybody else. It seemed that that would be a hindrince to getting spray down fast unless you are dumping large volume, which makes for of refilling.

Fatwood's reply and the Snyder farm videos say it all. I was at a seminar Rutgers had, where Dr Grande went over the advantages of the large internally mounted piston pump. He said they tried 100's of these from many manufacturers in the field and the Shindawa/Jacto proved to be the best. I have had mine for 3 years now and have not had any problems. I do about 35 different lawns a year with it.

I had the solo and lesco ones and they lasted less than a year, before they leaked or failed to provide adequate pressure. I am not familiar with the Stihl sprayers.

I been using 5gal Roundup back pack sprayer love it x50 I actually thought it would be a pos and dead or busted after a yr but its like 3-4yrs old now and sits out in elements all season long till winter and still going like a champ. It is a hand pump but I'm not much for those self powered ones

It sales as a 4gal but can get almost 5 in it

Not to be rude to you,but I only buy from my local dealers. I don't support major chains. I would rather support my local small business owners, and that's even if I have to spend a little more $.

Now if you don't have any local dealers anywhere close by in your area, then that's another story.
