Love the stuff cuts clean on the side of the line when cutting on the back swing of your circle , end does not fray and right now is the best line for the dollar at HD. Buy a bunch so they keep it out there. This and Gator platium are the only two lines I'll run these days. I edge a lot and these cut the mustard especially at long line lengths.

Yes, I really like this trimmer line, although my favorite is the shindaiwa silentwist line, .95, but the black diamond is my second choice.

I bought some of this stuff a last weekend and decided to use it today for the first time. Here are my thoughts on it-

The bad first- it is soft and wears extremely fast for trimming along chain link fencing. I didn't even bother trying to edge with it as I normally use my stick edger, plus, IME, if it doesn't last for chain link, it won't last for edging concrete very well either.

Now the good- this stuff is by far the fastest cutting trimmer line I have ever used. By far. It will cut cleanly at just off idle, and when spooled up towards WOT, there's nothing I have seen that can cut anywhere near as clean and fast. It went through some stiff, 1/2" thick stemmed weeds like butter where even the GMST will sometimes grab on a bit.

I do a lot of chain link, so will always have Gator Magnum Super Twist with me, but if all I am doing is normal trimming, it will always be this stuff. It also seems to stay fairly straight coming out of the eyelets of my SF head unlike most lines that tend to get all twisted or curly looking after use. It seems to run pretty quiet too.

I haven't tried it yet because I'm still waiting to run out of my other string. I am ready to give it a try though. Luckily for me I don't have much chain link fence to deal with.

Yes, cuts fast, clean, with my husky 535 I'm killing my lawn times on any yard with a lot of trimming.

How does it compare with Stihl X line .95? I have been extremely happy with this stuff and compared with gator platinum it seems to cut better, last longer, stays straighter, and holds up to fence lines better than anything else I have tried. Basically that, Echo Crossfire, and Gator platinum are all I have tried and the X Line stands out.

it last as long as any other line...Its' operator error when you stick the head right next to the chain links; or flush against a retaining wall. keep the revs up and watch where cutting line is and adjust distance to object.

I tend to relate the thickness of the line to the longevity between bumps

9ft of black diamond has lasted me 60-65 yards I would guestimate. The 150 ft spool of ugly line lasted me all last year and still have 25% of the spool left....

Totally disagree with this statement. I have been doing the same amount of chain link for a very long time, and I sure am not new to it. The Black Diamond is a LOT softer than GMST or even Crossfire when it comes to cutting along chain link fence. I trim it the same way no mater which line I have in my trimmer head. BD also wears down faster along brick walls.

Everything is a compromise, have not had anything cut as clean since suffix. Like the Gator Platinum as 2nd choice , its does not cut as good using the side of the line but the end works really well and it's durable,

Ok so we finally tried the Black Diamond line this morning. We cut two cemeteries with above ground tombs that have cement around them. The Black Diamond line cuts very well, however, it eats up about 4 times faster than the Crossfire and Gator Magnum line that we use. Having tried it in the field, I can't say that I will be buying this anymore. For homeowner use it should be fine, but for the amount of trimming we have to do sometimes I need something that cuts well AND lasts a long time.

For cement and chain link, that was what I said/found as well. However, for more normal trimming of resi's, nothing comes close.

I chewed through gator magnum edging , BD not so much. Gator Platinum not so much.

i used the oregon platinum gatorline supertwist today. i really like that stuff. very nice. i have a 3lb spool of it. i'm still waiting on my rhino tuff ugly line to run out. i've had that 3lb spool for years. the oregon platinum is way better than the ugly line. stays straight and doesn't curl up and the ends don't fray. it feeds out better too when you bump the head. no welding.
