I was just wanting to know if there are other LCO out there that have used swzt walkbehinds and have put a lot hours on them are they holding up. I currently run all scag and all of our walkbehinds are swz hydros pistol grips but there built like tanks and last forever. Were currently looking to purchase a few new walkbehinds but the handles on swzt look more comfortable for daily use just wanting other LCO opinions Thanks

Meh

It's not a swz
Its not an advantage or velocity
It's not really going to be a "tank"

The metal isn't the same
The welding isn't the same

However I haven't broken
Seen broken or heard of one broken yet
And it's been several years.
But that might not mean anything, in my opinion I don't see them selling very well.
So if there's not that many out there? Then the complaints aren't going to rack up.

I've put around 300 hours on one
So I can't say "wears like iron"

But my option is meh.
I still think it's a test bed for something better to come from scag
It's some kind of prototype
But that could be me dreaming.

No one buys these things anymore
They buy standers.

If it were me
I'd buy a bunch of scag sws
32-48
And get those boys walking
But then I wouldn't have any employees because they'd quit.
The competition is paying everyone to ride.
That's where all the money is being out from manufacturers for rnd
Because that's what's selling.

Imo the pistol grip wb is still the best mower
But scag needs to do something about those truth springs
They're giving small guys wrist spasms and carpal tunnel

I have one with 300 hrs on it also. 48" model. It was used at a bumpy cemetery all last year 12 hr day, used weekly. Then regular mowing when needed. Works well no issues. Seems to hold up fine.

The newer versions are selling well in this market and seem to be a good value at their price point. Mostly 48"s and 52"s. Friend of mine has a couple of them and says they do not clump.

Nah
The deck and cut are fine
The OP was getting at how well do they hold up.
The answer is they aren't going to
Not like an swz
But if you get 5 years out of them dies it matter?
You can get 15 out of an swz.
But if you're a commercial cutter, you've made your replacement price point and then some after 5 years of full time use. So anything after that is gravy.
I'm not a big fan of the steering
But I think I'm tool tall for it.

I used to get crazy long service from toro promises
And the swzt build reminds me of those
Still love me some t bar steering tho!

For the wrists is the tbars more ergonomic?

I dunno
I don't like it
Makes my hands feel "trapped"
But I've been running pistol grips since 1989 so I'm biased.
I'm not saying they're bad.
Just I don't like them.
I've run pistol grip only looking to see if there's some that are easier on the carpal tunnel :)
Spell check:dizzy:
Thanks for sharing

You can get lighter springs for your swz, but it has a tendency to make your machine run a little slower.

Or if you break your springs in,
Leave the machine parked over night with the forward lever in the "go position" and both thumb locks engaged.
After a week your spring break in and squeezing will be much more enjoyable

I bought a used swz with a dead engine, threw Kohler on it . You must be right about springs breaking in , machine probably has 600+ hours judging by dead engine and deck paint. I don't see a issue with lever pressure, especially compared to my old TTHP ECS.

Have you ever used a toro T bar?

Go check them out.
Never ran a tbar wb just exmark and Scag
Looking for a used WB eventually never considered a Toro but because of wrists was wondering if that would help me out
Thanks TedThumbs Up

Oh sure
T bar is awesome
See if you can locate a used t bar
Even if you need to travel to buy it

I particularly like the belt drive t bar

Thanks I've been looking for a belt WB for cleanups and for times when a lawn needs mowing and the lawn crew can't make it or on soft lawnsThumbs Up probably a 36 but I see more 48s at better prices and more available

The best thing about the toro t-bar on belt walk behind, was the ease of using one hand to mow, use the other one to move branches, or just get out of low hanging obstacles easier.
I don't know if that holds true with a sulky, never seen one in person before.

I never used a t bar with a sulky
It was always teamed up with one or more riders

You got a bit more independent control over drive wheels on H Bar. Both still join drive wheels to some eXtent so you lose allot of what makes a dual Hydro truly great for the sake of comfort.

H Bar manages this much better than T Bar but Twin Levers for me Thanks.
