Just curious what people’s thoughts are on the new Scag Tiger Cat 2 engine options. Personally I’m looking at the 29 hp Kohler EFI and the 32 hp Vanguard. I know it’s a vague post but always love seeing others options/experience with machines. Dealers sure can fluff em up. Thanks I’m advance.

I have a 29efi Kohler on my Tiger Cat 2. Good power on it and never had any problems. I upgrade every couple years and was looking at the TC2 with 32 Vangaurd. But I just picked up a 61 Cheetah with 37 Vangaurd EFI. Was only 1k more than TC2 with Vangaurd.

Does your dealer take trade ins
Or do you just sell the old mowers on CL?

I got a price of 10200 for TC 2 with Vangaurd. I was told they are not available until early 2020.
Yessir, I talked to my dealer again and he called and was told the same. I get the First Responder discount and that gets me a couple hundred lower than my dealer would charge me anyway, but he quoted me a price on the TC 2 with the 26 HP (I think) Kawasaki for about $8990.00. With the vanguard usually being a little cheaper according to him I should be a little bit off that when it comes available. Of course the $8890 doesn't have the tax included.

It would appear the prices aren't what we thought they were. Now that it's available it's gonna be about $10,120.00 out the door. Which is only around 500 more for the Briggs than the 26 hp Kawasaki. Doesn't look like the Tiger Cat II will come with a FX series motor in the 61" cut this year.

Ya I've actually decided to go with the cheetah 2 with 37 hp vanguard. Was able to use first responder discount and will get a pretty good deal on one. Just waiting for my old mower to sell.

My dealer actually is giving me a little more than the first responder discount. Trying to figure out if I would rather get a cheetah II as well.

I picked up a 61 37 efi cheetah last week. I've only got like 3.8 hours on it now (from 0) but this thing is a brute. I've never handled a mower that felt like it just wanted to move.

If the 37 cheetah is on the table I would recommend it.

Finally was able to get the 2020 Tiger Cart II with Vanguard 32 yesterday right at 5 PM. I went ahead and bought and had the dealer install the Scag Sand Plates underneath the deck becuause a lot of yard in NE Florida are quite sandy, so what the heck. Figured $275 is a small amount to spend instead of a whole deck. Anyhow it was almost dark when I got home so I only was able to mow a couple short strips. Plus the fact that my grass hasn't really started growing yet so it's not but maybe 2 inches high so hard to tell. Looking forward to mowing some thick grass and see what this mower will do.
