KM130/131's are the only way to go for me, for trimming and everything else

And no guard of course (I use an edger attachment and almost never edge with the line attachment)

My favorite trimmer hands down is the Maruyama B30L. It also comes in a turbo version with a 1.9:1 gear reduction. They've been redesigned with a new throttle grip and off off switch and the newest model number is B300L.

I've had the Husky 525 LST and LS but I don't think they're available anymore, only the Mark 2 version. I've also had the Stihl FS 94R and FS 111RX and the only Stihl I can recommend out of these two is the 94. I just flat out don't like 4-Mix.

I had the 2620 and 2620T but they had way too much vibration and I absolutely despise the throttle grip.

I have never heard of this brand before? I checked their site and the trimmers look good, actually impressive. There doesn't seem to be a dealer anywhere close to me. I did notice their throttle grip design as well. Looks like decent ergonomics. They manufacture their own engine as well. I honestly noticed more vibration in my old Ech SRM-230U than with either of my 2620's. Regardless some is still present. What is Maruyama's design differences to reduce vibration?

I have a km94 and fs94. The km is a smidge heavier but nothing dramatic versus fs94. Km131 is too heavy for everyday trimming imo. My advise is go km94r and string trimmer attachment to start. If you do any kind of hedge trimming or cleanup work the 145 degree adjustable angle hedge trimmer, and pole saw attachments can quickly pay for themselves.

The 94s can become incredibly frustrating to start in the summer heat in my experience. Need to follow start sequence exactly.
I've had dome commercial cutter customers in our dealership gor Ztrak or stander service mention about the 94's being a bear in hot weather. I'm an Echo guy for my personal property and never have experienced this. Is it the nature of Stihl's carbs/jetting??

Ok I just spent 65 bucks on a Darwin grip for my Echo 2620. Hopefully i can do more weed whacking without tiring out with it. 10 percent discount code is growit10. This trimmer is the best out there as far as performance and starting.
Can't disagree with that!

Make sure you install your DG correctly and keep tweaking until you get it dialed in for your height..Arms should be practically straight when standing straight up. Used my 2620T today with DG, runs flawlessly.

I'm getting flak for frequently speaking positive about the DG. After you use it please share your impressions, positive or negative.
You have me seriously considering the DG as well. Good feedback 👍

I hadn't heard of these guys either until a dealer here in town started selling them. I took one for a demo and I swung back by at lunch time and bought one that day. I don't really know why they're so smooth, but here's the info out of their catalog which kind of explains it better than I can. I hope I won't be accused of being a shill for them lol.

The picture you posted is called the Darwin’s Grip Pro. I don’t know what that means, never seen one.

I think the latest standard version of the DG is like the picture below.

You are incorrect..the owner of Darwin’s grip sent me this info at end of April.

Nice breakdown! I missed this while looking at their site last night. I've had these areas apart on Echos before and this looks a little better engineered. Especially the 4 bearings in the gearbox. I love my Echos but I wish I had tried one of these out before updating my trimmers/edger with new Echo units. But on the flip side, I've got a great Echo dealer 5 minutes from my house and they are good customers at my dealership.

I just spoke to the owner of DG and he sent me the following information about the Pro series. He said he would have a video later explaining how the Pro model is different than the original.

The pro series comes with a brace that doubles as a pre-cut line holder, hi-vis yellow, stronger vise with a quick release lever. It also will lay down flat against the trimmer for storage. It will ship with a blister pack to hang on the wall as well. The video explaining the upgrades and will be out soon.
