Run away!

I had that same mower, and so glad I finally stopped dumping time and $ into it, and bought a REAL COMMERCIAL mower.

It never had any major breakdowns, but I had to replace several spindals, blades do not last long as they are so thin. The mower is made out of such thin metal, that even minor bumps, would mess up the deck, and require adjustments. I have had to do none of this stuff, and have greatly decreased my mowing times, by not being forced to double/tripple cut lawns, and they look better.

A warranty for commercial use? I chuckled.

Several years ago I ran across a super deal at a Sears Outlet on a Husqvarna RZ5424 54" zero turn around the same price and quality - actually, I believe after looking at them, the build on the Husky was more solid, but that isn't really important. The important thing is that it's a machine made for a homeowner.

I never even cut grass with mine. I had several problems with it not starting and one of the soft metal control arm mounts broke - all while just attempting to run it around my lawn to get used to driving it. It was fixed under warranty on-site, but ultimately, I decided that it was wasted money, and I had them come get it and refund my money which I would apply to a commercial walk behind instead. Best move I ever made.

I mean, I knew what I was doing when I bought the Husqvarna - I knew it wasn't a commercial mower, but figured for a solo startup, it may offer some flexibility in taking on a limited amount of larger properties. I changed my mind when I started having problems before I ever even got to put it to work. I mean, what if I had the problems while actually trying to put food on my table with it?

Here it is the day they came to get it and take it back. Waving goodbye is my Ferris 36" walk behind that replaced it. It's not a zero turn, but it is ten times the mower that residential ZTR will ever be.

I saw one of these last weekend at our local TSC. One thing that I was kind of impressed with was the fact that it had zt-2800's vs the typical ezt on the homeowner units. The transmissions and the wider/taller tires for the price got my attention.

That being said I'm not a pro. I still prefer the Toro homeowner units even with the ezt (zt-2200) at 42" and skinny tires. The Toro frame is 10 gauge as is the fabbed deck with 7 gauge skirts.

Still, the Toro is on sale for $3400.00. Big difference for frame and deck and less transmission.
