Just was visiting with my JDL rep and he told me about MSM Turf chem for broadleaf plus crabgrass control in warm season grasses. It's basically $6.90 at the full rate per acre versus $13.91 per acre for Three-Way, plus three-way doesn't control crabgrass. MSM Turf is a wettable powder and ThreeWay is obviously is liquid. We spray with a boom & wand.

Seems too good to be true, anyone have any experience or things I may be missing?

I've been using msm for about 3 years. I've been really pleased with the results. I've used it as a stand alone product as well as a companion with other products. I usually mix with a low rate of 3 way. Although I am trying it as stand alone broadleaf control on a 35 acre property this year and so far am very pleased.

1.As a stand alone, it is extremely slow especially in cold or dry weather.

2. It needs to be premixed in an old jug or bucket. It will not dissolve on its own with normal agitation.

3. It needs a good surfactant. I like mso if conditions are mild. 90-10 if it is hot.

4. I wouldn't expect much against crabgrass. It takes a high rate to possibly control crabgrass. You will not like the results to the turf.

Msm is a good stand alone for broadleaf weeds if the customer doesn't mind waiting 3-4 weeks for results. I mix it with octane for a faster knockdown. Crabgrass control? Ummm no. We use Celsius or blindside for Crab in St Augustine and quinclorac for crab in zoysia or Bermuda. Not sure why they're telling you it's great on crabgrass.
