I have never yet seen a chain that did not drip bar oil during storage. It is just something that chainsaws do. If this is a problem then you can do one of two things. One drain the oil out when storing for a long time or put something in the bottom of the box to catch the oil.

 

All my saws have dripped in storage. I just set the saw down on one of those blue Rubbermaid container lids in the shed and pressure wash it every so often.

 

Well my friends, if it dripping oil very bad, that means the oil line is very dirty from saw dust or brocken, some times the viberation of the chainsaws make the top of the line loos, on still saws you have to take the whole handle frame out to get to the line.

My saws don't drip bad, maybe 1/5th ounce after I've used it. If I don't use it and it just sits in the shed over winter it still drips, but very little due to the cold. I picked up a new Poulan 14" and it drips slowly as well. If it was a constant drip, I'd return it. My old saws did the same. A slow drip is worth while than to constantly remove/replace all the bar oil.

 

I have a MS260 Pro that leaked some, but all it took was to tighten the screws that hold the two side of the case together. You might try that.

 

Its very common for the stihls to seep oil after use while in storage. One of the causes is when the unit is put into the case warm the case holds the heat and the oil thins and seeps. on must Stihl's the oil line is behind the clutch area attached to the oil pump, at times the oil line gets damaged from overheating and leaks. Also check and make sure your oil cap is not leaking, and as was stated just above you may also have leakage from the seam of the two halves of the unit. im a stihl tech and have seen these complaints on a regular basis.
