Does anyone have any firsthand experience with this lawn vac?

I found one for sale locally that is being sold by a lawn care company that went under. It was used 3 times, and looks basically brand new. They are asking $675 for it, which as I understand it is a hell of a price. I will definitely be asking to see a bill of sale, seems too good to be true, hopefully it isn't stolen.

Anyways, those of you that have used it - does it work well on picking up piles of leaves? Easy to empty? Hold a fair amount of debris?

I also read a thread on here about the recall of certain models, so I'll make sure to check that out as well.

Thanks in advance!

I do. I have used the every model they make.

For that price "like new" its a good deal but if you intend to clean up yards with it and be productive you'll be disappointed.

I see these things being great for home owners that want to sweep their yard weekly or do sidewalks and patios.

It does not mulch. So there is virtually no compaction.

For heavy maintenance duty, by the time you get it off the truck empty the bag, get it unclogged over and over it just not worth it. It will clog up. There is so much plastic on it, I can't imagine it holding up.

look at DR power. Homeowner stuff right. Tell me thats not the same machine. I called DR on it and they admitted the same company makes them for both BG and DR.

I wanted one for vac'ing HOA streets and parking lots. Not for yards.

Look at the Little Wonder instead. Seems like a better machine to me.

The most important thing is that it fills the bag from the top not the bottom.

I also saw one the other day at Sunbelt rentals. You might try renting one first.

My first guess is your waisting your money.

TPnTX - thanks for your informative reply!

That is disappointing that DR makes them - I'll definitely steer clear of this machine knowing that, and the fact it doesn't mulch, I overlooked that when I was looking at the specs (me ass-u-me'ing things again )

Thanks for saving me a few bux! The woman selling it was being extremely vague with the location of it and won't give me her phone number (Craigslist) so I was getting annoyed with trying to setup a meeting to look at it anyways.

You could ask MR Force but I believe that Billy Goat makes the DR unit for them. Having used the MV650 self propelled version I do know that it is a top loading vac. It did mulch up the leafs as long as they were dry, but not so much when the leafs were wet.

Indeed we do make the unit for CHP. The difference being their unit is Briggs powered whereas ours is Honda powered. It's a, commercially designed and built unit. What's wrong with plastic? Just like the naysayers who said plastic won't hold up in autos, back-packs, chainsaws, string trimmers, gas tanks etc... they're wrong. The fact that TPnTX didn't know the MV a top fill design indicates he's either mistaken about the unit in question or has never actually run one. With that being said, the other advice given should be taken with a large grain of salt.

Plastic keeps the weight and noise down. The competitive unit mentioned? It works okay if you like pushing 180 pounds around, up to 270# if the bag is full. Ours push unit weighs 162 pounds. Our self-propelled unit weighs 179 pounds. Noise?, let the units speak for themselves. However, don't use the competitive unit in a cemetery as it could wake the dead.;)As with any of our vacuums, it all depends on the application if it's the right unit for you. Is it for everyone? Nope, but for those who want to clean up certain areas of cans, bottles, baby diapers, leaves, cigarette butts, hedge clippings and general trash they will be very satisfied.
