Blowing out a system with a Lake Pump

This my first post but I have been reading up on things on this site for awhile now and its been more then helpful for my first year of business.....actually invaluable!

Anyways, this will be my first year doing blowouts and while systems with backflows are pretty straight forward, I'm not sure on the exact procedure for blowing out a system with a lake pump?

For example, I have one customer who has a system with a 3/4" faucet installed in the mainline in one of the boxes. I assume this is where I hook up the compressor. After I shut down the pump, do I keep the pump installed? Does the pump have a check valve that keeps pressure in the system during the blow out? Do have to worry about damaging the pump during a blow out?

I plan on moving the pump inside during the winter so it will be disconnect at some point, just don't want to have to replace it.

A quick synopsis of the procedure would be greatly appreciated

Thanks in advance!

You don't want to blow back through the pump.
There should be a shut off valve somewhere after the pump , isolating the main line from the pump.

Pump should have a foot valve in the water.
Remove and drain that manually
The pump will have one or possibly two drain plugs
Remove the drain plugs and let gravity do its work
Set drain plugs right under neath where you unscrewed them from.
I'm assuming the pump is set in some kind of pump house or little dog shed?
Make sure the MV/pump relay is disabled or disconnected when you run the controller to blow out the pressurized zones, otherwise you'll be dry firing and damaging the pump.

Awesome, thanks for the quick reply!

I am almost positive there isn't an isolation valve....I did startup for them this year and I cannot recall a valve.

If there isn't what should I do? I actually have three customers with lake systems and I would assume the valve would be right at the end of the mainline where it attaches to the pump? I don't clearly see a valve on any of the systems. l'll have to do some looking around.....
