Having a hard time finding a solid answer while searching the forums or web.

I have a bluebird 530A aerator, gearbox is leaking a little bit... I plan to split the gear case and re seal it. Does anyone know if parts will start falling out or is it pretty simplistic?

Last important part, what OIL does the gear box take? SAE30???

Thanks,
Justin

I can't answer your question well without research. I just bought a new gearbox when mine went kaput. But I seem to recall the gear box calling for a significantly heavier weight oil than 30.

Try this for mauals and diagrams:

That said, the gear oil info will likely be specific to the engine, not the bluebird. So try to find your engine model and then search again.

Gear reducers are typically spec'd to the engine and supplied by the engine manufacturer---they are not a BlueBird supplied part. It's my experience that BlueBirds are most frequently equipped with Honda engines and with that in mind, following is a link to a GX120UT2HX2 gear reducer.

If this link doesn't provide you with a satisfactory answer, post your engine numbers or, with the numbers, you can go to the above website and search for the info yourself.

It's been a while, but I seem to recall using 80/90W gear lube. If you are in doubt, the engine dealer should be able to provide you with the proper fluid requirement.
