I hate to hear this. I always heard a lot of crap about Briggs & Stratton. I have owned a bunch of them and seen a bunch of them over the years. I never really personally saw but 2 bad engines the whole time. Both were the same engine and that was a head casting issue that got fixed. I personally owned one and it was totally replaced under warranty. The other my dad owned. It ran until this year. I rebuilt it for him and other than this it looked brand new. I told him how to better care for it for a bit and to be prepaired to buy another mower because it might last a few minutes or a few years.

I have always liked their motors, often preferred them. Especially the Vanguards.

I don't own any Briggs motors anymore, nor do I own any Ferris or Snapper machines. But I really hope all 3 can come out the back end. I have higher hopes though that Ferris and Snapper will make it. Yeah I know Ferris rides better. But the Snapper Pros didn't look bad to me for those who don't want the Ferris suspension.

I can agree. I haven't bought a Briggs since 1998 until 2018. Bought a 329B/61 with a Vanguard on it. It's a bitter sweet mower. It's my favorite mower with probably my most hated engine I've ever owned. And now with this bankruptcy thing going, who will know if parts will be available cause goodness knows it's gonna need them.

Repower is my foremost thought, and has been...

I'm pretty interested in a Ferris stander, but there is no way I would buy one without knowing what's going to happen.

I'm sure someone will pick it up, but still.
I would think they have a big enough following whoever gets them they like to keep it. But then big names get axed fairly frequently when these things happen in other industries so who knows.

I do believe the designs and such are good enough that someone will buy them and continue them, even if under a different name. outside of warranty issues, engine parts and hydro's ect are pretty universal.
