I have a Dixie Chopper Iron Eagle I bought new in 2009. It only has 40 hrs on it and I Only use it to mow my 3 acre yard.
Now the Problem... When I bought the mower within the first month, it broke the clutch to blade belt. I took it to the dealer and they said the electric clutch seemed to be getting hot and locking up thus breaking the belt. A few months later it broke another belt! I took it back to the dealer and the said all the pulleys seemed to be lined up and they couldn't find anything wrong. They replaced the belt and I took the mower back home. A few months later into 2010, the belt broke again! Took it back to the dealer, they again couldn't find anything wrong and I again took it home. Now Today!, the belt broke again!!! Now I am beginning to get tired of the down time and having to load the mower up and take it 40 miles back to the dealer. The belt is getting shreaded on the sides leaving strips of belt in the yard. I can smell the belt burning or rubbing something on the mower and then the belt breaks. Do you guys have any Idea what I can have the dealer look for? Is there a problem with the Iron Eagle's that I don't know about that causes it to keep breaking the belt from the clutch to the blades? The dealer is nice about the service and hasn't charged me for the belts since the mower is so new, but I would Love to fix the problem and stop having the down time and trips to the dealer. Thanks for any help or advice you can give.
Also, I want to ad.... I keep the mower maintained, I baby the mower and I have had several zero turns in the past and have never had a problem like this. Mowers in the past were Grass Hoppers. I am beginning to think I bought a defective mower or one with a recall on the problem?
Thanks,
