I don't know what the Echo 266 is, but the Stihl 111rx is a funny machine. It supposedly uses more lightweight components to compensate for the porky 4-mix motor. The result, is one funny-balanced, motor-heavy trimmer. I quickly passed over this model, and bought the superbly-balanced FS94r instead.

So my opinion - Sell both trimmers, and buy something else with the cash.

No, Echo trimmers long grass gets hung up on top of the head. Stihl has a steel plate over the head wear it connects to the shaft so that does not happen. Nothing to do with trimmer line.
Been using Echo/Shindaiwa trimmers the last few years and never had it happen with grass.

I've had it happen with Blackberries or other vines, but it happens with Stihl trimmers too if you're using anything under 2hp that doesn't have a high torgear head

Grass will not get hung up in a Stihl trimmer cause of the metal rotating shroud. But will with the Echo. Least with guard off. That is my experience. Not sure how yinz roll

i prefer the stihl out of them 2 models but you should decide what trimmer you like the feel of better and keep it. Both last and great brands so really up to what feel you like because they both feel different
