I have a 2004 Exmark Turf Tracer Hp TT4817KAEC, 48 in. Hydrostatic drive with manual blade engagement and a Kawasaki 17 HP FH541V engine on it. I blew up the engine last fall on a hillside and need a replacement engine for it. The engine with 1850 Hrs. on it had been using oil and fouling the left spark plug for over 2 years so I knew it was going soon. The original engine # is FH541V-AS24-R, it is a 17 HP electric start engine without the recoil top. What can I replace this with and where is a good place to buy from? My dealer where this was purchased from wants $1800.00 for a replacement 19 HP Kawasaki including Freight and a 2 year warranty. Any and All replies will be greatly appreciated!

Thanks Chile, I did but they don't show any Kawasaki engines. The J.Thomas did and I am waiting for a reply from Exmark to see if I can Upgrade the existing engine with a higher horsepower model.

Finally got a phone call from Exmark, DISAPPOINTED! The guy, Joe from Exmark was a foreigner who spoke very poor english and I could barely understand his message. Whatever happened to Customer Service people speaking English in a Country that speaks English? The part I did understand was they don't sell engines. I figured since Exmark made the unit they could tell me what Engines, Kawasaki or other brand would bolt up to the Mower deck but apparently that was not the case. So my search continues!

You can fit Kohler or Briggs & Stratton on there, Honda as well,
really most any vertical shaft engine but certain specifications
have to be an exact match.

And being that it's a hydro I wouldn't go less than 16hp, really 17-18 is probably best.

As to which one...
This one's wrong but it might help with the specifications and as a guide, it's on my gear drive Toros:
Kohler CV15T-41624, 41629, 41582

You'll probably want a CV18...
The T stands for recoil start, if yours is electric they'd say S (as in CV18S).
