First of all, I am not trying to start an argument or fight. Just trying to figure out if they accomplish the same thing and the pros and cons for each. I have used the Amsoil MP HD on motorcycle chains, trailers, atvs and have had real good luck. The fluid film seems interesting and appears to get rave reviews.

I have been wanting to do something with this subject for a while but don't really have the funds to give away samples like I do with the 2-cycle oil. If there appears to be some interest here, I could sell some at my cost plus priority mailing to people willing to try it and give reviews.

Probably around $9.50 total product and mailing.

Post some comments if anyone is interested.

I use Fluid Film religiously. The stuff works great. I was unaware of the Amsoil product but when I clicked the link it didn't mention if it was safe on vegetation such as grass or shrubs. That is one of the most important things to me because I put it on my mower decks, edger, and hedge trimmers. Maybe Hoyt from Amsoil would know if it is safe for grass and shrubs.

A case of 12 is $59.40 ($4.95 ea)at commercial account pricing plus shipping and tax. I estimate shipping at $9.40

Total = $68.80 ($5.73 ea)

Keep in mind these are 16oz cans. The fluid film cans are less than 12 oz. I am a dealer for Fluid Film also. I can't even hardly buy a case for $69.00 not including shipping.

Amsoil = Less $$$ for more product!!!!:clapping::clapping::clapping:

Ok, i read the old thread and it looks like one of the main differences is that it sound like fluid film never dries and MP HD dries to a thick, dry, film. Do people use fluid film under their decks? Does fluid film attract dust?
That is exactly right, well said I use both products, the Fluid Film is better suited for lawn & landscape equipment. I have gone through 1 cases of fluid film every 12 months for the last 7 years:dizzy: Yes fluid film attract dust like a magnet

Why is that?
The Fluid Film remains wet, never dries, that provides a slippery surface, less surface tension, friction, no gumming, when used on hedge trimmers teeth, chain saw chains, under ZTR decks. even with the dust attraction their is simply nothing comparable to Fluid Film for many applications.

The AMSOIL MP HD is a lubricant that penetrates yes, but then encapsulates with a dry coating, not good for all applications.

I think I remember reading where many guys said that Fluid Film did not work all that well under mower decks. I would think since it never dries, that could be a problem for it.

But then again, if there truely was such a product that worked 100% under mower decks, everyone would be using it today!!!!!!!

Hoyt-- I do have to say Fluid Film does work well under mower decks. I put it to the test and saw great results. We cut tall, wet grass, ran over wet leaves, dry leaves, (bagging, side discharging, and mulching) and anything else I could find and my decks were almost as clean as when I bought them. Plus my machines only clogged maybe twice all fall and let's just say those times I might have tried to suck up huge piles of leaves way too quickly. As far as applying it to mowers, trimmers,, my edger, and even my truckloader I would have to say it works very well. Just trying to play devil's advocate.

For use on the underside of the decks, it's about prep with Fluid Film I have found that when you clean the deck extremely well, then apply FF let soak into metal, the longer the better at least 8 hrs, grass/dirt sticking is greatly reduced. It would be a toss up for long term protection between the two products.

I guess there would be a "film" leftover after the wetness was gone.

I know for a fact Fluid Film is good stuff. I have used it myself in the past and have never heard anyone say negative comments regarding it, including me!!! Possibly a little pricey in some regions but other than that.......

I have a farmer who kills ring worm with FF on his cows, nothing else works better or cheaper for him, so it's not expensive to him:usflag:

If it works it's worth the cost:laugh: I'm about ready to switch to the 5 gallon pails:dizzy:

Now that's a new one I haven't heard before. If I was still on the hog farm I would try and kill some "bugs" just for the hell of it. Might work.....never know until you try.

Sorry about not chiming in earlier. Since I am not familiar with the Amsoil product I'm not in a position to do a comparison. However, I can address a few issues about Fluid Film here:

Fluid Film has no solvent content and will not dry. It is the non-drying characteristic that makes it last so long. You could realistically get a minimum of twelve months of coverage from one application in areas that are protected from UV rays; such as hinges, locks, and garage door runners, where the product is not subject to constant abrasion. In a completely enclosed environment, Fluid Film could provide a permanent solution.

Fluid Film will certainly help under mower decks if proper steps are taken. The deck needs to be clean, and a few good applications are necessary to allow the product to saturate into the pores of the metal, where it sets up a barrier of slick protection.

Fluid Film is very cost effective if you understand its performance. Like I said, I am not familiar with the Amsoil product, but Fluid Film has outperformed every product we have tested against.

Because of Fluid Film's unique properties, it is available for a multitude of applications unavailable to similar products. It is safe to use on paint, plastic and synthetic rubbers, and will not burn greenery or freeze. It is an excellent snow release agent and will keep locks from freezing, snow blower chutes from clogging and electrical connections from corroding.

If you spray Fluid Film on an old, oxidized paint job, it will bring the luster of the paint right back.

I'm not knocking the Amsoil product at all. I'm just not familiar with it.
