The R is code for the loop handle, without the R it will have the bike handles. This info is for current made equipment not sure about the older ones.

WRONG the handles have nothing to do with the R-designation. The first models were called fs-80 the newer, later models were renamed to fs-80-r there are a few small physical differences but over all they are the same machines, the fs-80-r is a bit heavier as well.

The bike handles were on option and either machine from the factory.

So just because you never saw one with an "R" on it you assume thats what the "R" stands for???

Like i said the "R" has NOTHING to do with the handles. Its a later year designation, the older versions were simply the fs-80 the newer versions picked up the "R" designation to set it apart form the older versions. Virtually everything is the same between the two machines beside a few small physical differences in the plastics, the "R" is also slightly heaver due to the different plastic housing.

Engines the same right? That's what really matters to me.
Same engine. same handles,same shaft,same trimmer head,same handles,same spark plugs,same handles.....

Go to there site and you will learn something Loop handles are R and no R isBike handle
The trimmers has a R and the Brushcutters has no R
Sample FS110R is lighter then a FS110 its heavier The reason its heavier is the bike handles

Are we talking about the fs90 or the fs80? What does any of your links have to do with an fs80?????

I dont care what the "R"stands for in the newer models. because were not talking about them were talking about the fs80. you are both wrong.

The "R" on FS80 or FS90 stands for Rinkydink

Sorry to break it to you all, but your still wrong, I have 5 fs80's, 2 of which are reg old fs80's the other 3 are fs80-r's

ALL of my trimmers have loop handles and i bought all of them brand new from the stihl dealer. When i bought them it was an option to add the bicycle handles.

Stihl fs80-r with loop handle.
