I have been reading all the posts on the g6's and am ready to order some but I'm curious what exactly is the difference between them and the original gator blades?

G6's have carbide infused into the cutting edge. The cutting edge on the G6is much longer. They are high lift blades, while the std gators aren't. The G6's are 3" wide and .250" thick, while the std gators are 2 1/2" wide and approx .205" thick. The G6's work great, while the std gators don't do much at all(IMO).

I was a skeptic at first also with the G6's. After the first cut I thought they were a waist of money, but the first time I cut 5+'' of grass and only had to do it once, maybe twice to make it look real good, i was sold on them.

yeah I have the std gators and were not really impressed with them. I read everyone was liking the g6's allot and looking at the pictures its hard to tell the difference.
I understand that. If you see them side by side though it is easy to see it.

Here's a link to a pic of them side by side, and remember that the one on the left is actually the gator magnum blade, not a std gator blade. tjhe one on the right is the G6.

Thanks missed that picture somehow. Now I can see the diff.
I don't know what you're wanting to run them on, but if your engine doesn't have the power to run the heavier G6 blades ( and some here have had that very problem), they are coming out with the G5 that is identical except for the thickness of the blade (.205" vs .250" on the G6) to solve that issue for those who wish to have the performance without the added weight to bog their engines.

I have a set of g6 on my mini z and they are great. I was cutting an over grown lot the other day I went from waist hi grass to 3" in one pass at full speed. I have the mulch kit to put on but havent yet and I can say with these blades if I hadn't already bought it I wouldn;t put it on. I got a set of the three in one on my exmark wb and I can't say I can see a difference between them and emarks mulch blades. They might be a little worse. I will not only run g6s.

I purchased a set last year for my lazer z hp, at first I wasn't getting the results everyone talked about but after making some adjustments to the deck and throttle they are cutting much better. I would have to say that they are comparable to running double blades .

I wish they'd make a G6 with a slightly less raked trailing edge where the notched teeth are. They are noticeably harder to spin than the original gator blades or stock blades. I certainly want the blades to be .250 thick but, less drag would be nice.

If you use the G6's with your mulch kit, you're gonna be disappointed. They are not meant to be used with a full mulch kit. They cause way too much blow-out, and with the kit installed, the grass blades will be forced down away from the cutting edges by all the air flowing around under the deck. When I close off my MOD with the G6's installed, they do just that, and I need to open the system and make a second pass. With it open, they are awesome as usual. They mulch great while side discharging or bagging. That's actuallly what they were meant to be used for.:)
