My mustang 2054 died to day .
It felt like it ran out of fuel , the fuel gage read 1/4 tank . I added 5 gals of fuel but I'm not sure i ran dry .
My filter is full of fuel but I don't feel any pressure when i try to prime the system with the manual pump . The job is done and i need to load the skid ?
If i cant fix it ,and get it to run , how do i load the skid on the trailer ?
Last week i ripped a track on my EX , now my skid is dead in my customers drive way. My dump truck was hit in June and is still in the shop ! The engine lite came on in my back up truck today . OK the rant is over . Any idea how to get my skid running ? The truth is i never had a skid not run . fuel looks good , fuel tank looks clean , fuel filter looks used but no chunks in the bowl , No dash lights came on , oil and water are good I don't think i even have a electric fuel pump ? where to start? John

Take the filter off and fill it up.

What motor is in a mustang skid steer.

Maybe give her a sniff of starting fluid with the throttle wide open see if it will catch it will save you from bleeding the injectors.

You need to make sure the fuel filter is full. Probably not a good idea to be pulling the fuel filter off in the customers driveway thou

If you have another person with you cracking the injector lines if equiped will get enough air out to start

Also if your battery is low its good to try charge it up.

I don't know how heavy your machine is but around here trucks with hiab cranes pick the machine up put it on the deck and haul it way.

If you have a building supply with a crane truck they could pick the machine up and take it back home.

You may have something more than just air in the system. Sucking a fuel tank that low also sucks up the crap on the bottom of the tank.

Who knows maybe the lift pump has given out if you say you had a 1/4 tank.

I wouldn't use starting fluid ,I much rather use a rag soaked in gasoline and put it by the air filter and let it sniff as you crank the motor ,this method is a lot safer for the engine, just hold on to the rag don't let the motor suck it in.

You also can use propane it works or use wd-40.

Yes starting fluid isn't the best but it can get the engine rolling over enough to suck some fuel in and it will fire and keep the throttle open so it doesn't stall.

Old John Deere backhoes were real bad to start if you got air in the system. They barely started as it was you had a ether injection system.

It doesn't really look good if your repairing your machine in the front yard of somebodies house. Try drag the machine onto the trailer get it out of there.

It is why I suggested a flatdeck truck with a crane. Pick the machine up and haul it away. It doesn't look so suspicious.

If it is just a matter of losing prime, there must be a reason. You might have injection pump issues or might be something as simple a fuel line which has rubbed through causing the air injestion. There might be a release for the hyd system which allows you to tow the machine.

Well , I guess the fuel gage is off . I must of ran out of fuel and lost prime . I gave the motor a few shots of either and it started instantly . It did cost me a 1/2 day of work . I'm glad i didn't have to drag the skid onto the trailer . Thanks for the replies John

Also if it does it again it could be the line from the tank got clogged. Make sure to change the fuel filter soon since it could have sucked up more crap out of the tank since it ran empty.
