Hello all. I have a Honda GX240 engine i cannot get to run.

If was stored for a long time with gas in it.

I cleaned out the gas tank and got it all nice and clean.

I took the carb off and using some twist ties and wire i poked through every orifice on the carb. Took the 2 jets from the middle of it out and they were clogged cleaned them all out with wires and every single hole is perfectly open.

I than soaked the carb and jets in seafoam for 72 hours and constantly shook the container with the solution. After 3 days i took every part out of it and ran wires through every orifice on it and the jets once again. I thank took compressed air and blew out every orifice once again. Everything looks very clean and wires could go through and see them come out the other end of every.

I put the carb back together and adjusted the butterfly to close in the middle of the first tiny little hole inside the carb that i read to do.

But i still cannot get this engine to run. I can get it to run and stumble on for maybe 2, 2 and half seconds and that's it, but it stumbles and not a run for those 2 seconds. It has fresh oil, good spark plug , good spark and clean new gas.

When i had the carb off i sprayed starter fluid and the engine started right up first pull.

What else could i try or adjust , am i missing something? Any help would be greatly appreciated , thank you.

Is the carb getting gas from the tank? Fuel filter? Collapsed fuel line? Float stuck shut?

You may have overlooked the pilot jet. Some models its in the black plastic "plug " held in by the idle speed screw. VERY tiny holes in the end.
Or could be under a phillips screw near the top/side.
GOOGLE " Honda carb check sheet "
Or go here and enter yer numbers :

I gotta tell ya, it's a crap shoot with honda carbs. I've cleaned a bunch of 'em , even using ultrasonic cleaner, and still, some would just not work right, dunno. Honda carbs are a PIA to clean/rebuild.

I have to agree with @BigFish on getting them working. I would say maybe 50% of the ones I've done where replaced. What I would suggest is clean it again with Breakclean, not Seafoam.......FWIW, I use welders tip cleaners instead of wire, cheap enough...
