I recently tried clethodim to spray out some fescue where it wasn’t wanted without damaging anything else and also happened to hit a patch of common bermuda that overtook a neglected out of the way area. It took a couple weeks but the bermuda does look pretty dead. Don’t know if it’s a permanent goner but the bermuda definitely dd not like it. One anecdote.
If the task at hand was to get rid of bermuda for sure, what I’d try is a tank mix of gly, triclopyr and clethodim. Three things bermuda seems to really, really not like. I haven’t tried any of the ”f” chems (ornamec being one) but they are often recommended so must work well.
Have tried pylex and wasn’t impressed unless it is mixed with triclopyr. Works well in that combo but pylex is a little pricey if you don’t need a selective.
To absolutely, positively kill bermuda, shade is its only certain weakness. Anything else is an experiment based on field conditions.
