The 326 is 1.4 lbs heavier and it also has a skid shield under the engine. Other than those two things, they are very similar. They have the same engine in them. Both have solid drive shafts. Several others here have reported that they got much better service from their 323's than their 326's. It's all in the luck of the draw, and in how you treat them.

They may have changed this by now but as of a year or two ago the 323 would heat your arm up with the heat of the muffler while the 326 had a shield that was worth the extra $$$. Loop handle was also anti vibration on the 326. We've been through 12-15 of them over the years and they have great power to weight ratio but the triggers would break easily, screws would vibrate loose, and the pull starts would break from time to time.

You can make a trigger out of aluminum .
Putt Loctite on the screws.
As for the pull start what breaks ? The rope ?

That's a mistake on their website (one of several I might add). I have some of their catalogs that span a few years and they say 9lbs for the 323L and 10.4 lbs for the 326. I have also been in the local dealers and the hang tags agree with their catalogs. On top of that, you can feel the weight difference when you handle them side by side.

First trimmer I bought was a 323l. One of the longest running trimmers I ever had. Then I bought a 326 I think was and it never ran right from the start. It literally had more shop hours on it than actual hours on it. It would run good for a hour and start losing power and wouldn't crank, then back to the shop. I then stuck to my stihl which is really the only trimmer I have used that can keep up with me.

The rope breaks twice as often as our echo, stihl, and redmax machines. The plastic spool breaks or pops the spring if the screws get loose that hold it on. Still nice units but they need those little repairs from time to time. Power to weight and price point are great on them.

My dealer told me there were engine mods on the 326 vs the 323 but I don't know specifically what they might be. I have the 323 and love it...great power for such a light trimmer.
I'm not sure what they'd be. They both have 2 ring pistons, chromed cylinder bores, same HP. The 323 has the smart start sytem, and the auto return kill switch, while the 326 doesn't. Those two things have nothing to do with the engines though. Neither one is a strato charged engine (X-torq in Husky terminology)

I dunno either but between the 223, 323 and 326 I ended up with the 323 and am happy with it. I choose the 323 over the 223 for the solid shaft with lifetime warranty...seemed like it was worth the $30 to me. I couldn't find a good reason to get the 326 over the 323 at the time.

Which model Stihl do you run?

Was having some fairly major issues trying navigate Husky's website last night. Every time I tried to bring up a comparison of a few trimmers it would not bring up the models I specified.
I have ran several different ones fs90 fs110 fs130 and favorite was if I remember correctly was a fs100rx not sure they even make it still but I think it had a plastic head on it instead of the cast aluminum

I liked the huskys then I bought a lemon I guess. Even win it was running right it just lacked torque IMO. Main reason I like stihl is the torque rarely have to use full throttle.i did have some problems with the stihl buy it was mix related. Stihl recommends that use their ultra hp oil or super I forget but it's stupid expensive IMO. I use Amsoil 2 cycle had haven't had any problems for a while now.
