I look at like this...any holiday in the growing season is difficult to take off. If it's on a Sunday this year, I will be off anyway. Each person has to make their own decision. If you are loaded with work, then you have to work later the rest of the week and maybe even Saturday to make it up. We decided to work half a day on Memorial Day so we were still able to enjoy the afternoon, and only had a few to make up today. I actually enjoy working on a holiday. I planned it so I could do some commercial accounts yesterday. It went faster than usual as they were all closed and I had no cars or people to work around. Win/win

I’ll probably just load my ziplock advertising bags with rocks for the next round. I will be wearing my ear protection all day though, wouldn’t want to get surprised by a stray bottle rocket.

At best I'll knock down a Commercial Lawn or two very early in the day. Resi's are a big, big no no on the 4th as most people are home.....

.....then again heck, most people are home every day of the week anymore as no one seems to work anymore.

For sure! I like to text clients before a holiday and let them know I'm working, but if they have plans to be outside and relaxing all day to let me know and I will skip. Gives them the choice, and me the freedom to laugh to myself when the "patriots" get offended.

When you work alone you do holidays unless they fall on a weekend. I get a couple of months off during the winter as I no longer do snow work so I don't care about summer holidays but I do coordinate with customers to work around plans they might have.

Why wouldn't it be? Im pretty sure those who have fought or sacrificed over the years to secure and uphold the freedoms we enjoy today did it so we could do whatever we want with our time. I saw this topic come up for Memorial day as well and my feeling is the same. Im a combat vet, I absolutely do not get butthurt when people enjoy their holidays in whatever way they choose. Anyone that does get bent is missing the point of the sacrifices made on our behalf.
