I have heard mix match stories about troy bilt mowers and how they are ****ty is this true, and if so are any of there products worth looking at like there hand held blowers or hedge cutters?
thanks dave,
thanks dave,
I think you'll be better serve if you pay a little more to get a commercial brand. Troybilt is not cheap like Ryobi ( might be the same with different name only) or Homelite etc. The price is between the el cheapo and the commercial with quality more on the el cheapo side.i have the largest troy built edger there is to buy at lowes its like 156cc 4 cycle its the big one around 300 well i have not took it out of the box yet should i? or should i take it back get in store credit and get a smaller edger and a good hedge trimer to? its very large has 4 or 5 wheels. what do ya think?

The problem is, you cannot buy anything good at Lowes, so you will just end up with another brand of junk. Take it back for a cash refund and go to a regular dealer. Tanaka makes great hedge trimmers btw.i have the largest troy built edger there is to buy at lowes its like 156cc 4 cycle its the big one around 300 well i have not took it out of the box yet should i? or should i take it back get in store credit and get a smaller edger and a good hedge trimer to? its very large has 4 or 5 wheels. what do ya think?

No, Troybuilt is junk and not meant to be used heavily. They may be OK for homeowners, but if you're using the machine to make a living with, buy commercial.sthil is junk to?

Go to Home Cheapo, they sell ECHO now, makes me wonder if the Retail equipment is all going to be crap. No way I would buy a hand held unless it was a commercial piece of equipment and from a dealer.im not positive on this but i think lowes sells sthil here in Indy im trying to argue but i don't have the recipt for this 300 dollar peace of crap i now have so i can only get in store credit.

This isnt true anymore... I just went to Ace Hardware and they are carrying a full line of stihl blowers, trimmers, chain saws... I couldnt believe my eyes! The prices are actually HIGHER then my local dealer for stihl products, what is up with that?!!?NO big box store sells Stihl, they only sell thru independent dealers, and they say they will never allow their products to be sold in big box stores. But I wouldnt be surprised if they did sometime in the future. Dealers around here were pissed when Husqvarna started selling at Lowes, but I think there is a quality difference in trimmers bought at lowes and the huskys sold at dealers. Husqvarna used to be considered a great brand, but when they sold out and dealt with lowes, their standing went way down with many people.
Remember that all Ace hardware stores are independently owned. The owner of that particular Ace is the one that became a Stihl dealer. This isnt true anymore... Lowes sells Husq, toro, and Deeres too...the quality is NOT there at all, MTD made equipment stamped out different names and colors... Way to screw the consumers!!
He's right, Toy-bilt is just another MTD generic firm.Lowes sells Husq, toro, and Deeres too...the quality is NOT there at all, MTD made equipment stamped out different names and colors... Way to screw the consumers!!
He is right, Ace is independently owned and operated. The one up the road from me has been a stihl, shindy, echo, and redmax dealer. Reps eyes light up when they set up one, and they are not loyal to anyone. So they are told to come get thier stuff when they have product they cant move.Remember that all Ace hardware stores are independently owned.
