My JD dealers sell Stihl and Red Max as well as Exmark's line.

JD never really made their own push mowers, and since the market is pretty well covered, it isn't in their best interest too try to compete in that arena these days. I have several older JD 21's and they are some of the best cutting mowers ever made, but they are fairly heavy. That may just be why they are lasting so long.

I had a JD commercial 21 on a trailer years ago when Toro had the Suzuki engines and LB had a Commercial unit w/2strokes. It was decent mower but nobody wanted use it because weighed about 30lbs more than the LB and 10 or 15lbs more than the Toro/Suzuki’s.

Dealer stopped selling them. Only the Toros and LB’s going out the door

jx 85 was very good but the toro Suzuki was better and most of the pros bought that. toro and exmark own the comm 21 market today .
that's what happened here. We in the land where everyone serious about cutting carries at least 1 commercial push, some carry only commercial push and have several on trailers.

the Toro/Suzuki's couldn't be dethroned and dealers here dropped the jd's. Only mower came close was the old commercial LB w/Duraforce which weighed about 15lbs less than the toro's. But they were plagued w/breakage of the plastic drive wheels in the sp models and cables that broke more than they should.

yes turf T the llawn boy comm was built of cheap quality cables and plastic back wheels and didn't hold up well. where as the toro was true comm quality through out the entire mower. the 22240 was the best of the bunch. on summer there is one on my trailer every day some times 2. retired my lawnboys several years ago

Well, mine are still working just fine and are all original, bit the BBC and the trannies. The 14SB is a 1995 unit and the JE75 is a 1997 unit. The only issue I have is with the 14 SB and the cable for the gears. It is stretched out a bit and could use replacing, but still works good enough. I can't say how they'd hold up for all day, every day use, but for part time use each week when needed, they have been great.
