I have a Ltd 166 riding mower, I put new re post relay, and my ground wire is hot when I turn the switch on and have fire to starter, but Will not start. Could it be one of my safety switches

First off, don't shoot yourself in the foot with maybe, could be, the right part,
Maybe some clarification. What ground wire are you checking? If you have one end of your light on 12v+ and the other on a ground the light will activate.
If you have one end on a ground and the other end on a ground and it lights when the circuit in activated, you could have a ground problem. I've seen the insulation melt off a battery ground wire due to corrosion.
Checking the grounds cost -0-. Throwing parts at it can get $$$$$$$$
Guessing is done as a last resort. And yes, it's sometimes needed.

Arev you talkin about the starter solenoid? If so, it should have the two small terminals in addition to the heavy bat./starter term., right?
One of the small terminals goes directly to ground, is that the one you say is hot?
At any rate, do you have a three or four position key switch?
Could be one of the safeties. Check the brake switch, I think it's located down near the right rear wheel, IRC.
If ya google " LT166 wiring diagram" then click images you should get ya a couple useable diagrams.

Yes it is the relay with two posts and 2 prongs one for the starter switch and the other for ground, and I had my test light on ground and tested the ground and switch wire both have power, I bought a multimeter today. Also the wire running up to the magnito is hot also, took the starter, brake, and seat switches off to check if one is bad.I did put the old relay back on and the ground is not hot, some videos say it dosent matter which side you use ?.

Okay, now that we know that. You are using terms that you are confusing...

Most solenoids/relays are self grounding, which means that it has to be attached/bolted to the frame of the mower. If you still have the box it came in it should tell you if it is self grounding, do you /does it ?

I'll assume you do....

Any way, you should have one cable coming from the battery to the post that should be marked with a "B" or "Bat" or something like that. The other post should be marked with a "S" or "starter" You should be running a cable from that post to the starter. On the prongs, one should be marked with a "S" The wire coming from the "S"witch should be attached there. There should be no other wires or cables attached to the relay.

If you have it wired up correctly, when you turn the key, the starter should spin, spinning the engine (cranking) Does it ?

Now if it doesn't fire up (start) Then more then likely, you have a safety switch problem......

Of course, this all depends on the type of relay/solenoid you have too.....
