Jungle Jim's Mower Holder

I have a Toro 36" walk behind that for the last 2 seasons I have somewhat secured to my trailer by using 2x4's. After reading many guys on her saying how unsafe that is, and I do agree, I was wondering what you guys thought of the mower holder by Jungle Jim's? I see that it will securely hold the front wheel BUT will my machine still sway on the back end if it gets bouced around? I don't want it bouncing into my 21" mower.

Thanks!

Ah the "pro-lockers" are back.

Yes, what you are describing, the back end of the mower sliding or bouncing side to side WOULD be a problem since the lock only holds ONE front caster.

Now, what you could do, is use those 2x4's and put them on the sides of your rear wheels, screwed to the trailer. Like the lines in a parking stall in a lot. That should keep the rear of the machine in the confines of where you want it, it would take a hell of a bump to get it airborne enough to bounce over the 2x4 on the sides.

Personally, I just use the 2x4's to hold everything. "but what if you were in a wreck"? Yeah, what if... Well I'd bet money that just about any IMPACT would make those lockers that bolt to the wood floor just shear right off. Either the wood will give or the metal will, but that thing is NOT going to stop a 1,000 pound Z mower if the trailer stops or changes directions near instantly, like as in a wreck.

Thanks for the info, I will probably do like you suggested with the 2x4's like the parking lines to keep it confined. Thanks again!

I back my WB onto the trailer and place it sideways. Then I secure it with a cable and pad lock to the trailer rail. Mower does not move around while driving and people with "sticky fingers" have a very difficult time if they want to get my mower. Total cost was $10 for cable and lock. Keeps my trailer floor open for other equipment and hauling jobs.
