Kohler 18ohv Oil coming out of breather hose into Air filter

Good Afternoon everyone.. I Have a Cub Cadet 1863 with a Kohler 18ohv.. When mowing the engine starts bogging like it is going to stall then backfires.. Ive notice oil coming out of the breather hose into the air filter assembly, which i gather is running into the Carb. Have no idea what is going on here.. The problem just started and i cant figure out whats happening.. If anyone can shed some light on this Please help.. Thanks John

I would say that you have the symptoms of a blown head gasket. There are other causes of excessive crankcase pressure that would cause oil from tne breather but since you said that this just started, the head gasket would be the first thing to consider. You need to have a leakdown test performed to confirm. I believe that you have a Kohler Command engine, is that correct?

Yes thats correct.. I figured it might be the head gasket.. Thanks for the quick response.. Also the oil light comes on and off but i have the proper amount of oil in..

Could be as easy as a defective oil pressure sending unit or other more setious issues. Kohler has a kit to test oil pressure, so there is no guessing.
