Have a buddy that's looking into starting a side buisness painting lawns during the winter months/ drought seasons. He's had quite a few inquire about it. He's also looking into the mulch paint also as a cheaper alternative to installing newer mulch. I told him I knew just the place to ask if anyone out there has any experience with this. Pros vs cons?

Do it. I dye pine straw when I put it down. I did my buddy's yard a couple winters ago. I just dyed some red mulch a couple weeks ago and sprayed some black mulch this past Monday. I found a recipe for some cheaper turf dye than the commercial stuff. I've been using Envirocolor mulch and pine straw dye. Can't remember which turf paint I used. I did 2 coats on this front yard, went heavier than needed since it was my first time. It popped all winter long.

My biggest tip is prewet any concrete along the sides of your area. Have a bottle of water handy if you get some on it, it flushes away easy. I always mix it in the area that's getting painted, I have a seperate bucket to carry water to it for refills. You don't want to spill it where it doesn't need to be. I dropped the bucket when I was done with the green lawn in the street heading back to the trailer and spilled excess all over the road once. 🤣
