Here's some pics of my leaf trailer set-up. I bought a e-z dumper and put it on my 12' trailer, trailer was a single axle, I added another axle. I have to put the suction/handle on the end of tube, also will have to add a extension of some sort to get leaves into box, maybe a flexible hose or something, any ideas?? I believe this will make the leaf season easier.

Wriken, I'm curious, why not put the EZ dump in your truck? Is that particular loader not mountable that way (on a swing away hitch)?
I tossed that idea around for a bit, my 2002 is a 6.5 box and the 92 is a 8' box that I could have done. But I had the trailer and decided to go with that.:)

Really nice, but only see one thing I would change. Why didn't you center the e-z dumper over the wheels? You're really chancing bending the back axle once the leaf box is full; especially if you have a load of wet leaves. I'm only guessing that those are both 3500 lb axles which would give you a total load capibility of 6300 lbs. after taking the trailer weight into consideration. Now take 6300 lb and subtract the weight of the truck loader and e-z dump to find the max. weight it is capable of hauling. I think you'll be OK once you get the weight centered.

yep after I had the front welded in, I relized I should have had it 6"s forward, but live and learn. I might move it forward this spring, too busy now, working on enduro race sled:)

I know this will lighten your load capability, but you may want to consider adding about 200 to 300 lbs. just forward of the e-z dump. That would be a temporary fix to even out the load, and protect the back axle. Other than that, I really like the idea.
you must be a mind reader, I'm putting a toolbox up there and will haul gas etc up there also.

Mike,

Do you have the vac mounted in the trailer blowing the leaves into the truck ? I thinking of doing this to save from buying the hitch mount. I was thinking of mounting it front and center of my trailer and fabbing up hose to blow into a leaf box in the back of my truck. I would then diconnect the trailer and hose to dump without a swingaway. This way I have my trailer to haul equipment. Any thoughts?

This is how I have my setup and it has worked well, although I have a dedicated truck for my leaf collecting. I am want to fabricate a mount for my leaf loader to set up in front of the truck and blow over the cab. This way the loader will not take up trailer space and also will be easier to manuever the truck into the piles of leaves to be removed. For starting out, the loader mounted on the trailer has worked well for me.

musselman brings up a good point. On some trailer the side rail IS part of the trailer support. Before you do any cutting on the side rail, question the manufacturer on this. With my trailer, this was not the case. Last winter I added a side gate and everything has been fine.

A1 Lawn@Landscapes, rather then build a podium to raise your leaf loader, you might check with the manufacturer to see if they offer an extension to get the needed height. I have the Lesco model and they offered a 4ft extension for $125, so I took that route. The only problem concerning height with mine is the vacuum hose itself. The vacuum hose has to take a sharp incline to go over the top of the side rail of the trailer. I can either raise the loader itself, cut out a section of the rail or live with it until I remount the loader to the front of the truck. I have chosen the last option.

Good luck

The straight black part of my tube is a piece I welded in, went to a salvage yard and got some thin pipe.
I beefed up the under side of the trailer, it was at one time a 10' tilt, then went to 12'. I'm going to weld some angle to where I cut it off to the bottom frame, at an angle, make like a V as to where the hose will exit the side of the trailer.

I'm in the process of moving the box part ahead about 6-10"s, will finish that tomorrow. Boy can you load the leaves in this thing, I have a peco type collection system on my cub tank and can get about 22 of them loads in it. I got a hose set-up from trac-vac for my discharge pipe to the box, sweet set up, makes it nice when dumping time comes. I will post a few pics.

#1 Unhooked ready for dumping.
