99% of my yards are fescue and I cut between 3.5 and 3.75. In the fall it goes down to 3 inches.

 

I cut all of my accounts at 3.75" except 2 @ 3.25(their request). My own personal lawn @ 4.5". Would go to 5" but we would LOSE the minature dashund at that!! 4 year old tall fescue. Has filled in all 4 acres and better than my neighbors with less investment too.

 

This summer in central VA has been abnormally wet so I've been cutting at 3". But most summers I cut at 3.5".

 

We cut most of our lawns at 3.5 or 3.75 at work.

 

i dont know where you are, but that is not too low, but here from may till end of sept we cut at 4 inches. does much better, so dont be afraid to move up to that height, except if in dense shade, the tires will lay it down too much at times

 

WE are in Tall Fescue country and Johnson Farms Sod recomends 3-3.25" I ususlly cut all irrigated lawns at 3" and never had any issues

 

3.5" during summer - 3" in fall. Depending on your area, higher mowing heights increases your risk of certain diseases, so its a balancing act.
