So as most of you know in the last year so I have purchased 2 Deere Q 850M stand on mowers.

A 60 and a 54.

First let me say the dealer, Heritage Tractor, has been great. We have had some issues and they have always gotten us a loaner and got the mower fixed quickly.

Pros:

Great Cut
Fairly easy to work on
Hold hills great
Great dealer support

Cons:

I dont know if this a problem but it seems very coincidental that on 2 machines we have had the same problem 5 times. A steering rod has completely sheared off where it screws into an arm coming off the pump. 3 times on the 61 and 2 times on the 54.

We have also had to replace 2 wiring harnesses on the 54. Again, maybe we just got a bad batch but it seems weird.

Platform isnt very comfortable either. With my Wrights they had 3 springs. Deere has one big one. That spring broke within 300 hours on the 60.

I dont want to say these things are cheaply made but it seems that there are pieces on here that are easily breakable and for the price I was hoping for better.

Im not sure what I will do moving forward. One of my guys was approached at a gas station by the regional Wright rep and of course my guy told him about the troubles we had with 2 of their dealers and he said he wanted to talk with so he gave my guy his card. I have yet to reach out.

I have 2 36s which Im probably going to get rid of. We only use them on about 10 yards and Im either going to tell the people that they need to get wider gates or find someone else.

I really dont want to go with anything other than Wright so I will probably end up switching back.

My experience with Deere has not been great but its also not been bad. I guess average at best.

For what people pay for these machines...I expect more.

These are the first yesr of release for these right? Theres always going to be some issues to work out then. I just finished paying the price for buying that staris the first year it came out. I could not give that thimg away selling it. I doubt its gonna work out like that with those Deere

First off let me apologize for the model I typed. They are actually 850M not Zs. They have been made since 2013 according to Deere.

My rep called another local company who is much larger than me who buys them in bulk and he said they have had problems also with the steering arm but few and far between compared to me. I ended up calling that companies mechanic and he said he likes them but like any other mower things are going to break. Some just break quicker and more often...

Yes, but last year was the first year when they started making them again and they were not rebranded Wrights.

I dont really know to be honest. I just did some research on it and Deere ended the agreement with Wright in 2016. So does that mean they used that specific design till last year and then completely changed the design for the mowers I bought?

Pretty much exactly what they did. The machines you got are first year run models. Always some bugs to work out no matter the manu.

You buy Deere for their Z900 zeros, not their stand ons.
First off I own two W61R and two W48R walk behinds I love. Deere make other good mowers besides their riders.

On that note my buddy who works at my deere dealership has said they have had some QC issues with the Z900s and new standers, similar to how Scag was having a lot of issues in the past couple of years. My WBs have been good.

Their flagship comml stuff are the 900 series Z's. Ive had two that have had zero issues over 1200 hours ea. Dont know anything about the wb's, glad you like them. Standers arent their strong suit.

Gee...they only started making them in-house a little over a year ago instead of rebranding Wrights.

Because the 7 Iron deck is far superior to anything Wright has. You know...the deck that is on their 900 series.

Maybe give them a minute to work through some issues?

So, Im not wrong that standers arent their forte. Maybe in a few yrs?
