I was able to take ECHO's new SRM-3020 into some real nasty brush and compare how it performed against Stihl's closest trimmer, the FS-111! Hope it helps!

Not between the two, I got rid of the STIHL not too long after filming. Those are very specific-use pieces of equipment and I couldn't/didn't want to justify owning both.

I have used the ECHO 3020 a half dozen times since then for VERY heavy brush clearing, and even on a ditch that wasn't crazy overgrown but was just more comfortable than the PAS2620 because of the harness. There is a definite power bump between their 2620s and the 3020s. And the 3020 with .135 Crossfire line (which is what I have been running on it since swapping out the default line that came with it) is a force to be reckoned with up to anything less than saplings! :)

I think its not really a fair comparison in terms of power and price. Its fair in terms of cc size but 4 strokes generally require more cc than 2 stroke counterparts to get similar hp. The price reflects this sort of. The SRM3020 is $399.95 and puts out 1.8hp. The FS111R is $379.95 and puts out 1.4hp. The FS131R is $429.95 and puts out 1.9hp. Would you say the torque is greater are the FS111R than the SRM3020 despite the big hp difference?

The fs131r and srm3020 are very close. I own both and run them daily. We are going to all echo next year. After almost giving up on them the new x series equipment is the real deal. Overall the 3020 non T version is very versatile it has way more line speed available, 20 inch guard and enough torque for clean up work. Awesome all around trimmer.

Good read. I have no idea what some guys are talking about with valve adjustments. My 110 got about 6000 lawns in it before it started acting up.by then and amount of lawns cut weedwackers are monetary. Throw them away. I liked the 20” swath on the echo but the one thing with echos tgat jam me up as i own a few is the head angle. I’m not sure and never compared stihl vs echo in that department but at 6’4 I’m bent over trimming with the echo and stihl I’m not. Any insight on that or is it all in my head? Loop handle is turned at a 90 degree to the way it comes for easy flip in the hand trim to edge and all the way up against hand controls.

I had really good results from my frs110 and 130's. The 111 and 131 are more comfortable for me as well im also tall.
