Would have liked to see the 200. Prefer the Kohler but why toro went w/173 is baffling considering hrx has a 200 now.

Kohler has much more solid air filter arrangement than KAI Kaw and easier starts

Not much difference in torque between the Kohler CV173 and the Kawasaki FJ180 v

Kawasaki:(7.3 lbs/ft of torque)

Kohler (7.75 lbs/ft of torque)

I agree with Turf Tracer. Considering the Honda HRX has 200 cc, the cv200 makes more sense on the 21" toro commercial and the cv224 would be more applicable to the Turfmaster 30. Just for comparison, Toro has a 252 cc Loncin engine on their single stage 21" snowblower.

I have heard good things about the CV200 on the 30s, pretty much that and the new transmissions solved the majority of problems people had with the 30s here.

I have a theory. The 22290 has the regular FJ 180, and the 22297 and 22298 have the KAI, so maybe Toro will have the cv173 on the 22287 and eventually release versions with the blade clutch and 3 speed transmissions with the CV200 on it...Keep in mind this is just ONE model they came out with so far. I can see this being a "Fleet" model for fleet customers who have turfmasters with the CV200 on it....

Either way, this mower is on my list

I like your theory. Maybe it's their way of phasing out the Kawasaki versions. This one they came out with replaces the 22290 and provides you with:
1. The big fuel tank.
2. The engine guard, which can double as a lift handle.
That gives you a few extra features over the 22290.

I wonder what the list price on this is?

I doubt they will replace the Kawi versions, people love the Kawi and Honda models here. If I recall correctly I remember back in the early 2000s Toro had the Suzuki, Kawasaki, Briggs Europa and Honda options on the 21s then, they had something like 15 different configurations for their 21s, it was pretty cool. Maybe they are trying just give people more options ?
