There are no more real Shindaiwa hedge trimmers:cry:. They are now rebranded echoes. They are going to ruin this company! Glad I still have some of the original stuff. I will have stick to Kawasaki for hedge trimmers I guess, and besides, they are cheaper and lighter too! I am not paying for red dyed, marked up echo stuff, but I will still buy the real, non rebranded Echo stuff. Nothing against Echo, but I don't want any. I want Shindaiwa!

BIG mistake Shindaiwa!

At least nothing else has gone away.

Echo will continue to make unpopular business decisions like many other companies that acquire one another. Echo's decision to buy out Shindaiwa solved Two problems many smaller companies faced due to Governement intervention. First the 4 cycle technology that Echo needed and could not afford to create from scratch was ready to have and Echo also wiped out a lesser competitior in the process of this acquisition.

Yup, it is sad. Wont buy anymore once all of the good stuff is replaced with Echo. I will either go to Tanaka, maruyama, ir Redmax after that comes.
this was bound to happen. count on echo to ruin a good thing. you do know kawasaki has left the 2 stroke market also?tanaka makes good light hedge trimmers also. maruyama great also. we all know how crappy echo hedge trimmers are. ok for home use
Ya, I knew it would happen. I don't want Echo. I know they stopped making Kawasaki, but I can still get them until everyone is out of stock of them. And, one of my dealers is actually a Tanaka and Maruyama dealer, so I will have to look into them next time I need a hedge trimmer. He also sells redmax.

Come on guys.....the new Shindaiwa DH235 hedge trimmer only have a echo engine- there is nothing wrong with that- the gearbox, clutch, blades and fasteners are a upgrade over the echo hedge trimmers- not to mention the weigh WAAAYYYYYY less than the old DH231 trimmers- I sell both and the shindaiwa HTs are a step above- I don't have to constantly re adjust them or anything like the echos. I just suggest take a closer look at them- go through their Illustrated Parts Lists ( IPL ) and see the difference- just don't go off of somebody word- investigate- You will be surprised

We got some of echo and some shinduawa don't see any major problems with heavy usage. What am I missing? Not having any engine problems.
you're not missing anything, people go off on a huge tangent when a product shows up in home depot for sale like suddenly it sucks.

The irrigation guys do the same thing, all of the sudden toro ( or hunter or irritrol or rain bird) is the worst product ever because they saw they are selling in HD now.

Just another sign that small Mom an Pop store's are on their way out.

thats news to me that the engine only is echo on the shin hedge trimmers. i will have to look for my self. shindawia had a light duty hedge trimmer that was very light called the home pro 22. it was miles better than the echo hc150. of course it had to go as any one who compared it to the echo would have picked it . the 231 was way to heavy i agree. i am not shure if the redmax hedge trimmere are still the old model and redmax may have re-badged the husky models as redmax by now. shame the 2 best companys couldnt make it on their own and got bought out. the tanaka hdge trimmers are the lightest commercial models i have used.

Actually, the Dh235 looks EXACTLY like the 152 Echo hedge trimmer.

I have to keep saying over and over and over again that Echo did not take over Shindaiwa!!!!

Echo and Shindaiwa MERGED under the Yamabiko Corp...

Nobody, other than the execs at Yamabiko know how and what and where and when the brands will be interchanged/eliminated/etc. ....

Sure, some of the Shindaiwa is not echo painted red...

But there is absolutely no proof that Shindaiwa products are going to be red echo's in the future... NONE

Well, considering this, I am thinking this will happen at some point.

We got some of these very happy with them. The shinduawa has 4mix don't think echo has 4mix right?
There are no orange Shindaiwa C4 or 4mix, but there are some red 2 cycle Echo machines from the 225 series, but Shindaiwa calls them the 235 series.

But that's the thing Kawi.....

What evidence do you have to think that it will happen?

Not trying to be an a$$ but I honestly want to know where folks are getting this info...

I read alot on the industry and I haven't come across anything that suggests that this is the case long term...
I am making a PREDICTION based on current events. But, what do I know?

just go to a shind dealer and look. there are many examples of shinds that are just red echos. blowers-trimmers-hedge trimmers . all tarnishing the shindawia legacy. thankfully the 242 series is still there. anyone think shindawia wanted this to happen? i think they were loosing $ because their products were too good and lasted too long. its just too bad a bottom feeder like echo had to be the one that took them over

Yeah the days of the 230X trimmers before the compliance stuff is gone sucks but thats the way it is I use to use different stuff and it changes every year , I have used echo its fine and husky all that stuff but when I decided to get serious about my business and looked at the factors I decided that a dedicated line was better you get discouts for buying all things from one place etc , better service etc , because of dealer support and a wide variety of products that did good enough i chose Stihl and thats what I use today , but power to weight you can never replace a shid. t230x in my opinion , change is going to hapen nothing we can do about that.

Yeah, I miss all of the older stuff. Reason why my main trimmer is a 2008, and backup is an old blue 231 that must be 10+yrs old. I won't buy anymore Shindaiwa. Once the Good ole 242 series is replaced with Echo too. Redmax will replace it then.

I have one like new one left and i am not alowed to use it my girlfriend uses it at the house and since i broke the rest along time ago im not alowed to use that one. Lol oh well at least stihl came out with the 94r those 90 110 130 things were crap i hope once the companys get use to the new restrictions etc they can inprove there products.

Quality control on Shindaiwa has already dropped. I bought a brand new 802 backpack last week, and before pulling the cord for the first time, I indulged my OCD, and read the manual. That part about "check for proper tightening of all screws", should have been highlighted in red. I had debated about not touching it until spring, but I also didn't want to work a fresh motor too hard right off the bat either. I decided that I'd fuel it, run it easy and blow some snow around, blow out the garage and shed, etc.

Started easy, even though it was -6 C ( 20 degrees F ). was O.K, but just didn't seem right. I thought maybe just cold, not broken in yet, whatever. Then it just didn't seem like the throttle was doing anything like more than 1/4, and the idle was crap. I take it off and take a look. The carb had come off, and was just barely hanging on. Seriously. I'm not talking a bit wiggly, it was just the linkages and lines holding it in place. Sure, 2 minutes and it's good to go, and runs great, but not tightening the carb during assembly? C'mon... If you're going to have to take it apart and check everything on it, take a hundred bucks off and sell it as a kit.

Impressed with the way it runs, (so far ), significantly unimpressed with build quality control.
