Bought my second Plugr this season - They had a great sale with free shipping. Some improvements they made make it better on hills - more forward drive from the tines. On flat ground w/the cam driven tines I do not think it can be beat. Well made workhorse of a machine!
Thank you. I live in England and they call them Plugger Aerators here, there ones which is called the PL400 and PL410B which is the smaller compact version, any views on this?
I bought a used PL800 this year. It's great, but I do notice that the ground needs to be more wet to pull the cleanest plug compared to a drum style machine.
Hi, In the UK you can't get that machine model, it is a big machine so gateways etc may become a problem. Drum style machines are they better, the Ryan Lawnaire V is drum is this machine better than the PL400?
Drum vs Cam aerators both have their advantages and disadvantages. I feel the cam style is a little easier to use and definitely in PL800 form pulls more plugs per square foot in a single pass but it is more sensitive to the moisture level of the ground. The drum style (bluebird model something in my case) pulls a deeper plug on average, probably around .5", and is faster across the ground.
If I had to pick just one I'd go with the cam driven style.
