Ok, first post on here, really loving the site though.

Got a request tonight to do an estimate on raking leaves tomorrow. Said the back yard is about 80x150, raking would be for that and a small bit on side of home. One man operation, with a rake.

What is a good quote to give them? Raking sucks, but if money is right & they accept my quote I will take the job.

I am in Tampa, FL. Any help, & tips is greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

Jeff

I think I would start by buying a leaf blower, even a hand held one, you'll be so much more efficient, and this one job will probably pay for a good chunk of it, unless this is a one time thing for you.

I was asked to give someone an estimate on leaf raking and bagging. I have a price of $25/man per hour and $ 2/ bag ofcourse bag would be atleast 3/4 full so that the customer would see that they are not being over charged. ie 2 hrs by yourself and 10 bags full then that would be $ 70 .....ofcourse they are going to talk you down to a lower price but atleast you have something to start with.

Dude, you guys have it rough in FL.

I know raking isn't productive and the price should reflect that, but no way would I pick up the rake for less than 35/hr.

And quite changing your font like some other member on here does, super annoying...

I agree with one of the above posts..., even if it's a cheapo Polan leaf blower, I'd still get one. You can get behind bushes or detail out a lawn very well with just a rake.

Not to mention the time savings is huge with a blower.

No one here can say how fast you can clean up leaves, go take a look and think. But try not to under-estimate. If i were you i would add a little on top of what you think.
Especially this time of year when there is no leaves on the ground.

When it comes to estimating, I tell my clients a ball-park. Ultimately I just tell them that they get charged for the time in doing the cleanup and they are generally satisfied with it.

Not all of us....like others said you need to take a look. It could be a backyard blanketed with leaves and I would bet it is if they are calling to have this done. Even if I thought it would take me 1 hr, I would still have a minimum of like $150 plus dump fees if you can't leave on site. My hourly rate for myself is $50/hr. if its me and a guy, $70/hr. leaf cleanups in Florida are just as a pita as anywhere else so make sure you get compensated for your time.
