I've heard that Redmax unveiled their new 8550 blower at GIE. Does anyone have footage of it or any information?

For what its worth (and not trying to stray off-topic too much) I have two 570s and one 580. They're all brand new after replacing some stolen equipment.

For probably 80% of the time, I prefer the 570. The air speed is better than the higher cfm's when doing parking lots and sidewalks. The fact that a new 580 is shooting for more air volume doesn't impress me.

My apologies for straying off-topic a little. But may be helpful if you're not familiar with these blowers. If you are and you still want a new 580, I'll stick my nose back in my own business. :D

I have always been a Redmax fan. That's why I'm a Husky guy now. Not a close Redmax dealer but my usual dealer is awesome and they carry Husky.

High air speed as it relates to task completion times can be deceiving.

You see debris moved more quickly from a surface but you spend more time removing surrounding debris.

Regardless, will be interesting to see what RM brings out to compete.

Older thread but got to researching. Was at my husky dealer picking up a few items. And asked when husky/redmax was coming out with a new 1000 cfm blower like everyone is. He said it’s already out husky 580 mark II and redmax 8550. He said they just turned the current motor up and changed the tube. He said they have had the power available all along. I was glad to here cause I sure love my 570 husky. I’ll add a 580 Mark II when the time comes. I will give the stihl 800 a look too. Seems like stihl May have finally put a decent harness on there. But it will be hard for me to leave a blower platform that just works and fits me so well.

Talked to the Redmax Rep at my dealer's open house a couple days ago...told me the 8550 is one newton more than the 8500...

He couldn't get into details but next spring, most likely next fall (2020) Redmax will have a new backpack platform out...working on it now....which means it is probably in the on paper and math phase.

I can't wait...I love the RM's...at least to me they're the most comfortable, all around blower out there.

I'm taking my walker mower into the dealer in the morning for service. (Rain day here tomorrow) they've had the 8010 in now for awhile as well as the stihl 800. I'm going to put them and see how they feel. Comfort means everything in a backpack to me. Power is important too but if I can't stand to wear it for an hour plus at a time it's not. I love my husky 570 it's good 90% of the time. But I've had some nasty spring cleans where leaves were not taken care of from the fall. I will have a more powerful blower this fall or maybe I'll tough it out till next year if redmax/husky is coming out with an all knew blower.

By the way ridin I'm absolutely loving my cheetah man. That 37 vanguard EFI is just incredible. Nothing can stop it. Cut some way over grown THICK LUSH yards. Doesn't even phase it one bit. Nick named it "the destroyer" highly recommend that engine on whatever you get when you do. Need to do a thread on it. Just ain't had time.

Sold all my Husky 580's/RM 8000's over the Winter.

All 8010's in the stable now eXcept a few non saleable backups
I tried on the 8010 an stihl 800. 8010 was surprised how light it was felt good not as good as my husky 570 but very good none the less. Stihl 800 seemed heavy to my surprise but they finally put a good harness on a backpack. Will be a tough decision come this fall. 8010 or husky 580 mark 2 or wait till 2020 an see what hits the market.

I agree. After trying the 8010 an stihl 800 my husky 570 still has the better harness. The 8010 felt good though. Think I read the frame on the 8010 is carbon fiber? It's such a massive blower in appearance I just knew it'd be heavy but to my surprise it was not. I'll have to go back at look at the specs again 8010 is 1077 cfm but forget where that was taken pipe or housing an husky/redmax 8550/580 mark 2 is 941 cfm I believe again not sure where they take the measurements.

Both the Husky/RM and Echo specs are at the tube end. The crap they sell in Lowe's etc are the models where they fool unsuspecting or unknowing HO's with numbers generated at the housing. People buy one that says 800 cfm thinking they're getting a real beast not knowing that the real working numbers are 300 cfm less at the tube end.

Yes, the 8010 frame is all CF.

I may get the 8010 due to its pure raw power. The more leaf jobs I do the more I want. As it's been said before there's no such thing as to much power in a backpack. I'll hold off till the fall rolls around. It will be hard to leave the platform I really love so much in the Husqvarna line of backpacks but all my research is proving that the echo 8010 is simply a beast of a blower. But then I stop An think in real world situations (think wet leaves) how much separation is there really between the top blowers right now..8010, 800, 8550/580 mk2 etc

I can’t decide if I want to get the 8010 echo or the stihl 800c. I really don’t like the 8010 other than its power output. Stihl finally put a good harness on theirs but the husky still has the best harness out there. I need to take a look at the maruyma 9000 I run their hedge trimmers and they’re excellent.

 To much power for ya?..
@Ridin' Green got one last year. He says it's been working out pretty well for him. I run echo stuff to not just redmax. Echos engines feel really smooth and has enough power to get the job done.
