We use the PBI Gordon Spread Rite G. Its a gravity flow applicator

 

Thanks for the response, looks like that only holds five lbs though. What do you do if you need to apply 50lbs?

I usually use one applicator in each hand on larger properties. Smaller properties one works fine.

 

They look relatively inexpensive, I'll give one a try. I like the funnel idea too, pouring out of a 50lb bag can be tricky

 

Yeah they are inexpensive but not as efficient as the blowers. You can conserve the product a lot better in comparison to blowers though.
pouring from a 50lb bag is too difficult so I started going from the bag to a 5 gallon pail with a lid. Holds probably 2/3 bag to keep ability to pour through large funnel. Pretty efficient process. I would have each applicator take 2 spreaders in case of encountering larger areas. You can almost cover as much area with one but with 2 you can go a lot further between fills.

 

I use a whizz spreader and yea it only holds about 4 lbs , But most beds only take 2 or 3 spreader full. Flower beds are tough to get a real even rate to many human viarable

 

I use a Solo chest spreader, seems to work pretty well, easy to fill, etc..

 

We also use the solo...have been pleased with it so far

 

The gears failed on my Chapin.

Works great on small to medium size beds. Just be careful loading in and out of truck with equipment. The tube and paddle end can break easily.

 

We've switch over to these after having gone through 10 of the Scott's Whizz over the years. These things rock. Carry them on our machines. Batteries last forever on a charge. I've put in lawns with them.

I’m not looking at the label but isn’t it like 3 or four pounds covers 1000 square feet?
So five pounds would cover approximately 1260 SF
What kinda beds are you trying to treat all at once , a Walmart or something?
A typical resi bed being 6 feet wide… that’s over 200 lineal feet per little hopper from a hand crank

you CAN put 600 pounds per acre per season , but that’s not a recommended dose in one application.
