I am using the new 2005 husqvarna iZ4217T. i put three tough hours on it Saturday and when I got it off the carrier i checked the deck and blades out. Good hard blades but there was an abundance of green caky stuff-Grass that accumulated on this underside of the brand new deck. I was wondering if i should spray some PAM antistick on the bottom of the deck to keep that green stickky stuff-Grass from caking up on this new six grander! This one has to last me a while. Any suggestions or reply on wether i could use anit-cooking spray on the deck underneath?

There is a product made for this. It's called MoDeck or MowDeck..something like that.

I don't have that problem with my ExMark Lazers!

I know what you mean about the build-up under the deck. this time of year doing the first cut the grass is dry and hard to cut and evidently what is green is very sticky. It makes concrete under the deck! I sharpened my blades today and tried in vain to use a putty knife (the usual tool for the job) to break this crap loose. It's the same story every year... I finally invested 25 bucks in an air hammer chissle *sp* Now that made fast work of the crap! I'm sure I will be scraping this junk a few more times until the grass gets growing good. I have never tried any of the anti-stick sprays. I think you would have to clean the deck spotless in order to make it work. I have also heard that Pam was generally as good as the others for the job in the past, but like I said, Iv'e never tried it...

I spray WD40 underneath the deck and it seems to work pretty good. one guy I know puts lighter fluid under the deck to keep it from sticking (don't try it) . :dizzy:

Funny because I've heard of using cooking spray before. It contains oil as well as lecithan. So last week I pressure washed the Walker deck really well and once it was dry, I sprayed it down real well with Pam. Not only did it keep the deck WAY cleaner when mowing thick, damp turf the day but when I did tip the deck up to check it out, cleaning the little bit of grass that had accumulated was a breeze.

Anti-stick cooking spray as I have posted many times before on here is the only way to go! It works very, very well and heck I don't even use PAM I use the cheaper store brand....butter flavor....um um! So YES, it does work.

I gotta tell ya that stuff is RANk. It is hard as 'ell to scrape that stuff off on your back. Perhaps I will continue to look into a high pressure washer or something. PAM is not heavy enough to cut the grut. Although I will try it and document my findiggs.
Dude, the PAM isn't going to "cut" anything off. You spray the deck when it is clean and then the PAM prevents that buildup. I can save you the documenting as I have been using it for years on big mower deck and little mower decks and as I said it works.

John we check the decks daily when we are greasing and checking and do it if needed but unless we get caught in some rain or really wet grass normally we only have to spray it a couple times a week when we change out blades.

Keep the decks clean like this. Every day (yes every day sit the machines on your trailer gate use a 120$ power washer that you can get a HD. Shoot the water through the gate and let the grass fall on the gate now just blow it off onto whatever>>>DO NOT STAY NEAR A SPINDLE TO LONG water will get int eh bearing and then its all over. Im not talkin about a 1200psi pressure washer here jsut a quick spary down. Mine are always clean and i change my blades every three to five days.

Cant really see how pam would stay on that long.

Spraying water at and around the spindles everyday (even if you do be careful) is just asking for trouble. No way I'd ever do that on a daily basis.

As to the PAM staying power, it does. Spray some on your fingers and rub and see how long it is still there.

yeah i mean if your carefull its not a problem, i mean dont sit there and drill the spindle with the water and youll be fine. Power washing every day also keeps fungus from spreading from one group of lawns to the next.
