I don’t think any comment is needed, but it did feel good in the heat. 😂 Not all that practical though lol

Also, for the OP, what if one is trimming grass and not weed whacking?

Will this idea still work?

I’m not a “fan” of shorts either. I personally agree about the more professional look and legs being pelted as well.
Ironic, thinking shorts aren't professional but using the term "weed whacking" is.

I have a pair of workpants that's getting pretty long in the tooth. I'm thinking of cutting the back out of them, and making a set of chaps. Maybe a buckle or two under around the ankles and knees to keep them on. Much like the protective chainsaw chaps, but much lighter weight.

Yes, I plan to wear something, shorts perhaps, under them...

Also - If someone knows of a lightweight set of chaps like this, please let me know. All I can find is either protective chainsaw chaps, or goofy leather cowboy chaps.

I seriously do not understand what all the fuss is about. Pants are not that much hotter than shorts. An extra foot of fabric around the calves?! Wow sounds like unbelievable torture

Aside from swimming I have not put on shorts in nearly a decade.

Fabric selection can be helpful.

I refuse to wear jeans when there are so many better fabric options available.

Shorts? Never!!

Your profile says Minnesota.

Come down south when it's 90+, 90% relative humidity, sun beating down with little clouds or breeze.

Then you might understand. ;)

I’m in the Deep South and wear pants every day. We have plenty of lawns with sandy soil, and no irrigation, as well as some lawns in old pecan orchard. Pants every day, when it’s 95+ heat index a pair of jeans is no hotter than shorts

not sure I’d want the extra weight on a trimmer, butI like the idea for the mower
