Anyone else have their Stihl gas caps spew gas when you take the cap off?
And why does it seem like they are always on there SUPER tight.
I know good and well I didn’t put it on that tight.

I haven’t experienced this with the flip caps like Stihl uses on their saws.
Just the screw caps. Weird?

But opening it slowly takes time and time is money, so you're cutting into profits by spending an hour a month just opening a gas cap, and...

OK, it's a joke, but you KNOW that someone was thinking it. LOL

I have to use a rag. Opening it slowly is a given, but it "sprays", so it doesn't matter where my fingers are.

I never have this problem with my cordless trimmer.

I HATE that too. The old caps threaded over the tank like a bottle cap so the gas escaped downward. Now they have it spray at the human. Dumbest design they could have made.

And why are the fuel tanks so tiny!?
Yep should spray down.
We get a little over 1 hr run time per tank. On bigger jobs like cemeteries we always fill a coke bottle half full of gas and flatten it so will slide in back pocket. Really stinks to run out of fuel 700 ft from truck.

My BR800 doesn't spray much, if at all, when opened (screw in) for some reason, my FS90 does it nearly always if it's over 65 degrees out and it has the improved/2nd gen quick open Stihl cap. My old SH85 HH blower does it most of the time as well, and it is a screw in style cap. I rarely, if ever have this issue with my screw ON caps on my 802 and 8010. Same for my FS250, which is also a screw on style cap.

Mine did that, it was an issue with the tank vent. Eventually the vent got bad enough that it would cut the units off when it used all the air in the tank. New Stihl vent didn’t fix the issue, my dealer also sells echo products and he fitted an echo vent on my stihl

stihl gas cap should never vent...theres always a tank vent valve that does this and its one way to allow air in the tank...all stihl gas caps are designed to seal the tank...if leaking time to replace them...if tank isnt venting them you need to fix the tank vent...this goes for all stihl 2 stroke engines

I have found that the spewing is “normal” even with a good working vent. All 3 of my NEW Stihl trimmers have done this.

When the vent goes bad, you usually get an air filter covered in gas. As the vent on my Stilhl trimmers vent into the airbox.

I do agree, the cap should seal.
