Probably a stupid question.... but has anyone else used a different grease for their hedge trimmers and weed eaters? Been kicking around the idea of using the high pressure grease I use on everything in the trimmer heads and clippers instead of the stihl junk in a toothpaste tube.

It has served me well actually, and it is easy to use. I don't think it lasts as long as I would like in my stihl trimmers, which is the main reason I am curious if anyone has used anything else. it seems to last forever in my hedge trimmers, course they don't see the repetitive use or (probably) as high of temps as the trimmer heads.

I figure any #0 or #1 grease would probably work ok. I and a #2 grease though that I wonder about using in the trimmer heads cause it holds up forever so it seems.

i still have some stihl grease left. that's what the husqvarna dealer had for sale.

when it runs out i'll just use regular #2 NLGI grease.

in my hedge trimmer i used a chainsaw sprocket grease thing as it made it easy to squirt into the tiny hole on the bottom. just set it over the hole and push it down and it pumps it in. :D

when it goes empty i will refill it with #2 grease.

that stihl grease costs too much.
