In need of new boot for this season (leaf cleanups, winter work, spring work). I'm looking at the Timberland Pro series. But I have many options- steel toe, not steel toe, 6in vs 8inch....any suggestions? Steel toe may be helpful, but i've heard that if you don't need it, then to skip it due to extra weight. Any opinions? Thanks!

I always buy my work footwear two pairs at a time. The next time I buy I am going to be looking for a "low top" (not a boot) with a safety toe, but not a steel toe.

Any opinions on height, the 8in vs the 6in?
When it is hot, I wear shorts. The higher the boot, the worse the tan line. Hence the reason I will be getting safety toe shoes next time I purchase footwear for work.

My duty boots for FIRE/EMS are 8" while my work boots for mowing are 6". If you get the 8" boot, make sure they have a zipper side on them...I would hate to lace up the boots everytime I put them on. Another thing with the 8" boots is that you have to wear longer socks with them in order to really be comfortable (short socks don't work).

Honestly, I prefer the 6" boots for mowing since I can wear them with shorts and don't have to change to higher socks than my usual. Each has their place, its pretty much just preference.

I had a pair of the timberland pro steel toe 6 inch. Decent boot, kinda pricey though. Its also heavy, like walking with mud from a lake bottom stuck to your feet. I used them when I was a tractor tech. They were too heavy so I started just using cheap hiking boots, low tops.

Haha I have the regular Timberlands, but the bottom's just realllllly worn out. Plus I want something a bit more insulating for the winter. What's so heavy about them, the steel toe?
I dont know, when they are on i feel like i am walking around with lead shoes. They are horrible. They were not cheap either. Look for a light boot.

i have a timberland pro hiking style boot 6" and steel toe best of both worlds steel toe for protection comfortable and light weight as well as breathable in the heat it has a covered toe so it doesn't get scuff marks and cleans up great got them thru sears for around 100 bucks on sale

For what its worth I have the timerland pro steel toes and Love them. Yeah they are heavy but they are the most comfortable boots I have ever owned.

Not to mention I am thankful when I accidently run the walkbehind wheel over my foot when trying to back it up from being stuck or drop a wrench or something else h.ard and heavy

I use pros in the late fall and winter, I have a wb, work boats are not meant for walking they are tooo heavy. In totally I have 5 pair of work boots, all 6 inch - yea, weird tan lines. In the summer I wear my new balance hikers, they are waterproof and weigh less than a pound, I switch them every day.

im on my 3rd pair of pros best boot i have ever owned! last pair lasted me 3 years before the sole finally gave out. Just bought some new ones 6" steel toe cant wait to wear them next year.
If you don't use saddle soap give it a try, it will make your pros waterproof, and really stops the leather from drying up.
