Hey all,

I am getting ready to prepare my backyard for sod/seed. I have a husky mzt52 with zt3400s and was planning on using a chain harrow for some light grading and then to turn the seed into the soil. I was thinking about something like this:
http://www.cabelas.com/product/FIEL...ctAds&WT.z_mc_id1=04081052&rid=20&gclid=CKLzjKCn_8wCFYkkgQodsKUOGg&gclsrc=aw.ds

Would this be too much for the hydros to handle. I have about 8000sqft that I need to use this on. I was also planning on using this to top dress the grass in the front yard with some soil.

Thanks,
Harry

I wouldn't risk it personally I'd be renting something or borrowing a ATV.

You got to think of how much drag it would put on them plus that 120lbs of weight the actual drag unit

Just not even worth the risk of straining your hydros on ZTR with it

I use my mowers to tow stuff regularly. Nothing like that though but I would probably give a shot

I built the house about 6 months ago so the entire yard was graded and the front was sodded. I don't really have much grading to do more so just cleaning up where water runoff has removed some material.

I could also just use the harrow flipped over on the smooth side so that way it wouldn't be really digging into the ground it would be smoothing the existing soil, that may be sufficient to get the centipede seed to a depth of 0.25in. Like i said not too much work but I made the mistake of just broadcasting centipede seed the first time and not covering it.

The specs for the 3400 hydros say for units weighing up to 1600 lbs. Mower 760lbs, myself 170, harrow 120 so looking at about 1100 lbs of static weight.
