I bought some Trimec lawn and weed killer from Tractor supply co and applied it at 1 OZ per gallon of water and it has done almost noting to the weeds. My sprayer is spraying .5 gallon of water per thousand square feet and according to the label im spaying over the recommended rate. Is my mix rate off or is this stuff not that good or is it the temps. I was trying to kill dandelion and some clover its been 5 days since i sprayed and the temps have been High 50s in the day and almost freezing at night. Thanks

I always spray at least 2 oz. per gallon of Trimec per gallon. I beleive the cooler weather we experience in the "North" mandates this until temps reach 70-80 degrees during the day. Once it warms up, you could back off the dose for dandelions, but for clover I still use 2 oz. per gallon. I haven't burnt a yard yet and love my results.

I am guessing that Reading the Label and calibrating equipment is no longer recommended in your states. The label appears to be no longer of importants.

How much water is your sprayer spraying per thousand?

I am lost here. You say you are mixing at 1oz per gallon but spraying at .5 gal per K. So that means you are only using 1/2oz of chemical per K and or wondering why it is not doing much. I beleive you better double check your calculations, because instead of mixing hot I think you are mixing way too week.

Buy your chemicals from a dealer and get him to help you figure it out. And get your license soon--OK?
And its cold in Wisconsin. Weeds and weed killers work much slower.

And Dawg is right you are only applying a half-ounce of product per thousand sqft. Why?
You need to go at the maximum rate. Kill those dandies--don't just make 'em sick!

OK
Let's look at chart #3 [I ass/u/me that you are using a pressurized sprayer with cool season grass listed in chart]
The chart is saying to use 1oz of product every 250sq ft. So it will take 4oz of weed killer to cover 1000sq ft.
If you calibrated your sprayer and it is putting out 1/2 gal per 1000sq ft then you will need 4oz of product in 1/2gal of water in the sprayer to cover 1000sq ft.
If you have a 2gal sprayer and filled it with water you would need to put in 16oz of weed killer and could spray 4000sq ft.

OK thank you very much.

When I was reading the label and it said Amount of weed killer 1 OZ amount of water used 1 gallon and area sprayed 250 sq ft. I thought they were spraying 1 gallon of water every 250 sq ft. That is why i could not get it.

Another issue is the outdoor temps your spraying in. A post emergent chemical (Trimec) needs weeds to be actively growing. The temps are a too cool for good knockdown. Wait for temps the rise into the 60-70 day and warmer at night. The soil temps are too cool for most weeds to actively grow.
