"Trimmer" chaps?

I was thinking yesterday, while mowing with the rain gear on, does anyone make a set of chaps you could use while trimming?

I've got a set for running the chainsaw when we're cutting firewood in the winter, but those are rather bulky for trimming.

Basically something made out of thinner rubber would work fine, that one could strap around their legs.

I wear jeans all summer, so it'd be keeping the grass from building up on the jeans, or you all that wear shorts, keep the grass out of the hair on your legs, especially you gals. :p After trimming for 5-8 hours straight you get a little grass buildup on your clothes.

Anyways, anyone ever seen such a thing?

I know I've seen guys wearing catcher shin guards before, but that's rather overkill too.

I wear shorts when I mow, I tried to wear jeans and just couldn't do it. I got way to hot. At the end of the day you can't even see the skin on my legs. I thought about wearing some soccer shin guards when I trim. It would protect me from the small rocks that it kicks up and it would keep my legs somewhat clean. Just an idea though.

I have a pair of the chps by W.E.. They work well, and definitely keep your legs from ggetting tore up. Also, the shin pads inside of them slide up a bit to form knee pads if needed. Easy on, easy off, and fast.

u should get into a new line of work if you afraid of grass nothing personal. use a blower after every lawn clean urself off problem solved
Let's see, weedeater spinning between 5 and 10 k per minute and small rocks, peebles and sand on the edge's bouncing off my glasses, shinns, ears and occasionally my nose, your right don't really care about the grass. But the blower just smears the blood, any other ideas?

I use what's left of an old pair of blue jeans. I had my wife cut the legs off and cut them top to bottom so it's open at the back, put Velcro with some elastic straps top and bottom. Practically no cost. They go from ankle to above the knees easy to put on and take off in 15 seconds. I usually put them of only when wearing shorts, saves your legs from getting dirty but really big difference keeping your legs from getting torn up from stones, etc. I sometimes put them on when wearing long pants and it's wet to keep the grass off, saves my wife some work when washing them.

This sounds like a good idea. I'm sick and tired of having bleeding shins from all the rocks the weed whacker throws. Ya I know, cut with the 3 o'clock position of the string. But it doesn't always happen that way. When I catch a stone in the shin it makes me almost loose it and throw the weed whacker as far as I can.

I think its time for home made chapps or W.E Chapps. So what if you look stupid. Loosing your temper because of blood pouring out of your shin looks stupid too.

I've been thinking about trying a pair of the W.E. Chaps trimmer chaps. $25 I think, I'm tired of digging out little pebbles from my legs. We have such sandy soil around here my legs just get hammered...and no...I will not wear pants until it freezes outside.

Maybe I'll order mine up this week and report back, although I think we can take Runner's advice as he knows what he's doing.

I've been thinking about this same idea, using an old pair of Dickies instead of jeans though.

But after doing it for a while.. I don't even wince from blows to my shins anymore.. But taking projectiles to the face is another thing.. especially when a little rock goes up your nose, or smokes you in the lips :realmad: ... But if you think the chaps make you look like a dweeb, just try sporting one of those face sheilds without laughing.. Then again.. I agree that you look a lot worse jumping and twitching like you're geeked out on drugs..

Maybe my wife will get me the sheild and the WE chaps for my B-day.. Then at least I can say I didn't buy them :D
