Does anybody work for this company? I am considering applying. If so is it a good job and how about benefits and pay?

Trugreen is one of the main reasons we started our own.....:D

My husband worked for them for about 3 years *3 very looong years* and was constantly frustrated with huge routes, with no time to do the job correctly, low pay, high expectations *I could go on and on*

Right before we started our company he considered going back to work for them but for $450.00 a week for a licensed applicator with 15 years of experience is a joke

We are in our second year and he almost doubles that salary *on some weeks he does* with a lot less stops and far less hassles.

I would suggest going into selling used cars or life insurance. Try to target the little old ladies, and rip them good. Take them for every dime you can get out of 'em. Do this, and you will sleep a little better than working for tru brown.

If you have no experience, that is a route to consider. Let them train you. They'll give you a salary plus commission to learn to spray. My problem there in the early 90's was I had a conscience. Just tell yourself its a paycheck and roll with it. Just be sure to learn as much as you can.

I keep telling the young fella that cuts my grass he should spend two years there. Then start back to mowing and do full service. Be patient. I have been at this 17 years and still learn something new everyday.

...but you have to keep calling them every two weeks and keep selling them something they don't need!

I didn't even consider that point Green Dreams.....and it is a good one.

If you don't have any experience then Tru Green might be an option *ya gotta start somewhere:)*

When they come out and do their early spring treatment/pre-emergent treatment, what exactly are they spraying on the lawn? Does anyone know what their exact spray is? I've noticed it sometimes does get the job done, but can take 4-6 weeks. I've also noticed, it sometimes doesn't work at all. Next question....after a company sprays and leaves the lawn green in color, what are they using and why? I figure it is a pre-emergent, but what is the green color? Just color or specific product?

Your madder than a box of frogs if you want to work for those buggers. Once they have you by the short and curlies, you will HATE yourself. Compare it to working for Home Depot or Wal-mart or some other soulless company that doesn't give a rat's knackers about you. If your self-esteem is that low, go for it.

tara,
I just want to say that you have a nice website. It is straight to the point, easy to understand, and informative of your services. Vey nice.
One thing that did catch my atention though, was when I clicked on your premium services link, I'm, getting a Trugreen advertisement along side of yours (through a yahoo geocities window that takes up about 1/5 of the right screen.) This seems a bit counterproductive. Is this something to do with your carrier, or is it my service, or what?

I do know that TG/CL applies at what most would consider a diluted rate, the reason goes back many yrs. When they started in the 70s they were the only game in town and sold a very nice 4 step program as competition became a factor they came up with the marketing idea of volume. So now you have to pay for an 8 step program to receive the same amount of product that you use to receive in a 4 step program. Many will feel that its unethical or immoral to do this, but the customer gets exactly what they paid for backed up with a guarantee. TG/CL SELLS THERE PRODUCTS which has let them become a multi million dollar co. Its the customers responsibility to ask a few question and get a second opinion. Most ppl don't go to a only one car dealer when wanting a new car, so why would they take the word of only one salesman that shows up or calls to sell a product. And if there willing to buy into TG/CL sales pitch they get what they were promised. I personally think that there idea of salesmanship is great for them and it does seem to be working. I'm not saying its for me or anyone else.

I worked for TGCL and TG landcare here in ohio thier first ap. is granular they do not spray (to early) and the first ap. isnt pre-emergant not warm enough for pre-m thier second ap. is pre-m (granular) the rest of the year they spray liquid fert the trucks have 2 tanks one for the liquid fert, water, and 20% recycled mix the other tank is water and tri power (for weeds) the spry guns are 2 stage pull the trigger and spray just fert pull the trigger all the way and spray fert and tri power. all thier granular is lesco i dont know about the liquid, most lawn techs for TGCL ghost spray thats where the show up leave the invoice and leave the customer cannot tell if they sprayed or not it all depends on the tech. my route had to bring in $1,100 a day i was spaying 450,000sqft for $1,100.

I just broke into the fertilizing business this year. Last year I took care of my grandmas yard and she told me that they charged her over 400.00 a year and only came to treat her yard three times for about 10 minutes each. Thats just a little ridiculous, I cant believe they have as much business as they do, treating customers like that. I convinced my grandma to let me fertilize her yard this year.

Well, I've noticed around here they treat for about $40 each and come five times each year. You usually have a lot of weeds again in the spring and when they treat them it can take 6 weeks for them to die. In fact, this year I watched a neighbor's yard and talked to him about why his weeds are still alive for about a month. Then all of a sudden, blah, they are gonners. He said they didn't come back out, it just finally took them out I guess.
